Give them all a try! Once you find a few you really like, add them to your daily warmup routine and practice them… a lot.

I hate circles

Circles are really important. I start with an HB pencil, then switch to a coloured pencil and then follow up with a micron pen so I get triple the amount of circles on the same page. Draw your circles from right to left and then go in the opposite direction. One direction will feel more natural to you but train yourself in both directions. Keep up the good work.

Its nice warming up with circles, i find a little bit boring doing with pacience but need to keep up.

It was a nice reminder to warmup circles. Usually I just draw them without warming up first, and they look awkward.

Any tips on how move my arm around when making small to tiny circles?

Circles on top of circles, I also ghosted on top of some them. let me know what you think!

Hey! I really like this warm up! I did a mash up of cookies and donuts for the first page, which I think I did alright on. The second page I try to do Micky Mouse ears…didn’t do the best on them and they look more like bears lol. Feedback would be greatly appreciated! Have a great rest of your day.

can we, should we drag our pinky finger for stability?

I also used my little finger for stability. However, the problem for me was the edge of the paper. There is also the risk of smudging your drawing with your finger. So in my opinion, it's best to practise without.

Got them done, became more accurate over time.

Very well drawn circles

Here’s a page of circle warm-ups. The first pass was with a pencil. The second one was with a fine liner. The second pass was really difficult. Having a specific circle you need to draw as accurately as possible was way more challenging than just drawing random circles. This is definitely a good exercise for the warm-up routine. Thanks!

I like these warmups so much, I combined them with the mushroom warmup. Also, I have a cheap sketchbook dedicated to just warmups and do them every time before I draw.
@boilerpharm
That's a great idea! My kids make a lot of scrap paper when they draw and do crafts, so I repurpose their partially used cast-off sheets for warm ups. I also try to sneak in a few warm ups on the scrap paper I create during my full time (non-art) day job.

Casually did my circles while listening to David Finch explain gesture drawing. I’m not certain if it’s wise to be studying both anatomy and the fundamentals at once, but here are my circles next to an anatomy quick sketch I did. I’ve taken figure drawing before, but I want to be able to create my own characters or accurate fan art. So, I’ve decided to come back to the basics to fill the gaps in my knowledge and not give up this time. Excited for this course, Stan! Your lessons are a source of encouragement.

I have been holding off on doing that anatomy ... but this is maybe not a bad idea...
James Miller
Ball point pen. Did more of Peter Han's warmups with the spider web thing, gave me a chance to work on my lines as well.
