Hey, this was pretty fun to do! I know I was very rough with the sketch, but I tried my best. I really like the 3rd and 4th attempt I did. Let me know what I should do better. Have a nice day!

These value studies are great! I like the different compositions you explored and your shading is nice and clean. I think you could make these even better if you separated shapes with value contrast rather than lines. For example on the 2nd one, you could separate the shirt from the skin by making the skin a darker value than the shirt. And rather than drawing individual lines to represent the folds, you could add a group of small shapes of value that fan out of the knot. This way you can connect your shapes with a sort of rhythm. Hope this helps!

Hello @Michael Hampton I have begun this course and so far I am enjoying it. I have these exercises that I’d like to you to grade me/show me some tips at getting better. My circles and ellipses are rough and I just started on practicing on a sketchbook. Let me know what you think. Have a great day!

So I’ve been on here for a bit. I’ve been doing the line quality exercises consistently. Last month I made an improvement at making my lines straight. Now for some reason line aren’t straight…no matter what they always curve at the middle or end. Not sure why this is happening. It’s making me sad to be honest. I need some advice and some help. Thank you

Yo! Had fun doing this one! Doing this shading project was very meditative and soothing, if that makes any sense lol. I did level 1, a full value scale on top and a shortened scale on the bottom. Towards the darker values I did realize that I shaded two squares that look the same in value. Adobe and pointers are appreciated. Have a wonderful day!

Hello everyone! Long time no speak. I took a break due to mental health issues, but I’m doing better now. I left off here with the ginger root people. Assignment. The second picture is my own attempt at the people and I think I did alright, I know though I can improved. The wrapping lines are confusing me. Give me some tips and points! Have a great rest of your day!

These are great! It’s ok to take breaks if you’re feeling burnt out. It’s also amazing what learning to draw can do for the mental health. Keep it as a regular practice and watch yourself get better over time. This sort of improving is great for the soul. I think you could vary the cross contours a bit more. Make them more straight or curved depending on how extreme the foreshortening is. I made this demo to help explain what I’m talking about. Hope it helps! Thanks for sharing. You did made some very nice drawings. I like your ginger people!
