Had a lot of fun with this one, i dont usually feel comfortable exploring with character design and simplifying the animals first to basic shapes has helped me a lot!
Melanie Scearce
Wow!! These have so much character, I especially love these two.

Learning how to be free and explore more but these shape lessons are fun and looking to keep building up the skillset of manipulating shapes. Stan makes it fun! Any feedback is welcome

This is my attempt for level 2 before the demo. I was struggling with this exercise in the beginning because I felt that I was too safe, and too geometric with my shapes. If you take a look on the first image on the left, chickens 1 to 3 were too stiff, and too geometric. I did not know how to stretch my shapes or how to. It felt a bit like I had to draw from imagination. So I went on pinterest and studied some designs visually. I went back and did chickens 4 to 6 and I did my best to be loose and not so perfect. I wanted to make my shapes more organic. So with each animal I focused on stretching the circles, squares and traingles. I hope it looks good. :/

These are excellent! I like your geometric shapes

One thing I observed when coming up with new shape designs is that the idea to come up with is kinda hard in its own. Designing and modifying the shapes wasn't the hard part for me, but coming up with ideas for different and interesting shapes was the challenging thing for me. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Rachel Dawn Owens
I dig the variety. You made a bunch of iterations. Nice work!

Well, there are my sketches copying what Stan does. In one of them I got carried away by my imagination...I hope you like them. I think the loose lines are becoming more and more noticeable.

After watching this video I was really shocked to see to what extent Stan has the ability to play with shapes and take them to his field. I have realized how much I still have to practice in order to advance. You can really see the years of practice Stan has in drawing. My most sincere congratulations. Until now I had not realized to what extent my creativity is blocked. My lines are coarse to variegated.

Went all in on the circle, square, triangle idea. It's alot of fun to have completely different characters out of the same idea.
Tommy Pinedo
Interesting design! I like the unique style for this.

Redo of project done during watching the demo any critiques are welcomed thanks.

I am very satisfied with how these came out. I tried to follow what Stan was doing but at the same token let myself be a little loose. But all criticism is welcome to help me improve. @Martha Muniz

Hi there! The animal I worked on is the snow leopard. I tried several variations and attached a picture of the leopard. I would be delighted if you could give me a critique on the shape design.

It was fun trying to think of the different ways to change the shapes of each of the animals. I definitely felt that birds are one of the more easier subjects, compared to other mammals like a dog, for instance.

I think I pushed my designes to far to the simple shape I choose. I'll try again keeping it closer to the animal.
Martha Muniz
I love all the different styles you tried out! It's definitely good practice to try opposite approaches like you did, like one more realistic and another more simplified/stylized, or more angular vs more curved. Keep it up! :)

My sketches for the animal portrait exercise. It was a lot of fun.
Stefan Sharkov
Great work, these are strong simplifications.
Brhody Wallis
Not the most jaw droppingly original designs here... but I did not know I could draw like this! I was able to manipulate and turn things in space without additional references... this is the best! What a great lesson this one has been. Thank you! 🥳
Stefan Sharkov
These explorations are very strong. I love the rooster designs, and your incorporations of shapes are spot on. Excellent work.
