dumbass me put around 4 hours on 1 thumbnail because I was working with 0.5 mechanical pencil, so the first one has a lot of time invested also because I was laying lines like in measurement project still got a lot of forms inaccurate 🤡😭😭😭😭😭. I am so cooked because even the first level was more hard to me than measurements. level 2 and rest of projects in other post, in mean time sayonara. and also I have a lot of question but one thing for sure I was improving in watching values with every next project, leave putting values for now. I have art history papers due, and fundamentals portfolio... (over due) but I will try my best to submit level 2 by nov 15. questions and doubts:
1) in first one I tried to lay lines first, it took a lot of time as stated first 1 or 2 hours just to lay in lines, than again I didn't have caught to perspective yet, but do we need to lay lines first? if yes, was there problem in my way of laying lines, (I did as showed in measurement video of eyeballing proportions)
2) in other projects I tried to not lay in lines, the problem occurred was without laying in any lines it was really hard to fill spaces, and eventually I completed the projects in 20 mins but they looked like quick gestures.
3) I know I have to squint but still due to colours and over texture I was unable to find the separation between light and dark, other than that I think first one is looking accurate out of all 3, but first one was tiring and over frustrating.
those are doubts, and I did not completed chairs in first one and texture in last one, more like I (my brain) just got burned because I am drawing from 5 to 6 hours straight.

Please provide comments. I would very much like to better myself, but it is hard to if I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I have attached my try of the seals & sea lions. I will work on more as I can.
Thank you in advance for your help.

nooooooo..... another week wait for next video... sad life.... Wanted to ask like a major question, how do you see primary values or primary shapes when the subject is too complex, like nature and scenaries. like in a forest of 1000 trees and million leaves, where every tree is overlapping each other, every leaf is overlapping each other, every leaf has its own cast shadow on next leaf, how to even start putting any lines or shapes at that point. When you are drawing from reality that far tree really looks far and have a detail like its next close to you, if you dont measure, your lines start curving and if you measure it takes you 5 hours minimum just to lay in lines. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, i have learned so much again from this video, thanks.

I for sure rushed for 2nd page, other than that I am working on values more, but also at same time negative shapes for scenery paintings, so I am really short at time these days. but I will try to do other excercise faster. probably I am gonna do level 2 again and markers again because I am not satisfied with results.

I also painted the same photo because I wanted to understand values better and Boi that was hell of a challenge I pit more than 5 hours in this project and in between easily 10 hours of rest. I guess it's good for starting out, but I have alot to work out

Second attempt . This was after some back and forth checking and correcting. I was pretty good on the head and face, but the shoulders were way off so I corrected. Need to be more careful with the “less important” proportions!
