Before I get into the level 2 demo, I want to show you my thought process for exploring the different options for organizing line weight.

I'm not sure if I posted this in another lesson, but here's my try at hiearchy, Depth, and light and shadow.

I tried to help another student and made this my line weight project, but then much more became involved with perspective, which I have some experience with. Left to right 2nd try, 1st, and reference photo. I was trying to figure out the legs in perspective and I know we have got there, but which do you think works better for the legs? Left or Middle? Feedback welcome

Tried this with empasis on torso and legs for depth. Feedback welcome

Attempted this using the overhand grip which made it much harder to put the correct line weight with confidence, as I am not used to this grip. Need to practice more using the overhand grip.
Also for the still life I came back to try it with the tripod grip. Any advice is appreciated.

followed the vid, I'm sure I'll improve more with proper practice

Tried the 3 different ways using an image as reference. Since the reference was simple, it helped me focus of the lines I was putting down since there were so few. Overall, I'm happy with how they turned out, and can't actually decide which one I like the most.
I think each has their own uses and can't wait to apply them in my future drawings!

Any critiques would be nice, simplified the image and changed things to improve the composition.

Tried once from freehand, then decided to make a sketch of the reference image so I could focus on lines. I did a hierarchy of importance, and light and shadow.

Tried to draw something from imagination. Well, it didn't go so well.
The table lines were organized by importance, sneakers were for depth, and the chair was for the shadow.

Tried to organize line weight by depth. I wanted to make a little more gradual shift from dark to light, thick to thin than how I did.

interesting, I think it's my first time to learn the Depth and Form for line weight. (Maybe that's the reason, why my drawings look so flat, not 3D.)
And I also tried charcoal too. hmm, hard to control but I still had fun.

Depth and Form quite hard to differentiate between shadow light. I would like to know where am I going wrong. Tried to pull the front part of the shoe closer to the eye and have have the other side further in the distance,

Tried this with Mario mushrooms…reworking lines to try to get them to flow is not always successful but can see how tone and thickness of lines can be used to position the viewer or light source in what starts as a flat image. Not the best subject matter for hierarchy of importance however..

Here is what I have done for depth and form line weight for the rhino, what do you think about it?

Great video, as usual, but the sound of the charcoal scratching the paper... I had shivers down my spine

Tricky subject for sure, it's very subjective.
