I felt way too scared at the beginning, that I kept delaying when I should draw the skull xD Finally drew it, and understood what Stan meant by "my proportions are off because i'm focusing on the line quality". But WAYYYYY more :') Noticed it when I stepped back to take the picture, that my skull look like he went to the dentist (swollen jaw) Anyway, it did take me an hour (and a half maybe), I'm reaaaaaally slow when I draw, but I'm glad I did it (and covered the whole page :') Maybe should have done it smaller ?) Also tried to replicate the edge Jeff Watts do, while not having the same tools, hope you can notice it at least a bit. Thanks for the potential feedbacks :p (Mine's the left one, of course.. xD)

Couldn't find a lot I liked of people just "sketching", and couldn't get myself to draw the entirety of their work, but I found a lot of artists I enjoy the work of, and tried to replicate some of their drawings. I shaded a bit on the box because I was a big fan of the straight lines used on the surface's edges. The pictures should show Inucoco's, Nesskain & Matt Smith's work, which felt the most accessible to me, but here are some artists I wanted to try out but didn't (probably by fear xD) : - Beksinsky (Love his work) - Kota Koriki (Discovered recently, but I felt that without colors it wouldn't be the same) - Robbie Trevino (I'll put a picture of what I wanted to try as the last picture)

These podcasts are a candy for my ears and a big motivational and inspirational help for when I want to but can't draw. Thank you both for this amazing content !!!

For a minute I felt so scared that I'd have to think about EVERY TYPE OF WEIGHT while drawing.. Good think I watched to the end :') But it does feel great to learn about each concept, even on the surface, so that when we practice, we try to implement those concepts into our drawings. Thank you so much for this useful bonus lesson, sir :p

Came back after watching the line weight videos to try it on different references I found. Tried the depth and form "type" for the basket, and tried to combine the different line weights for the ring box. I feel like I could have placed my lines a better way on the ring box. Probably no right answer for this one I guess..? (sure there is) Any feedback would be appreciated :p

Tried to draw something from imagination. Well, it didn't go so well. The table lines were organized by importance, sneakers were for depth, and the chair was for the shadow.

You really challenged yourself ! This is great. When learning new concepts, though, its also nice to be "lazy" so that you can learn faster ! But you did great : - The second leg feel further away ! - That chair feels highlighted from the top left, and catch shadows under it. Maybe try being lighter on your lines when drawing highlights, so that the shadows/dark lines stand out even more ! Also, when touching an other surface, objects tends to be darker (no light in that area), so I'd also make the legs of the chair darker at the bottom. Overall, you greatly understood the concept, hope you keep it up :)

This was my first attempt at Depth and form used a Samus artwork from Metroid Prime for this. Hope to hear some feedback :)

Great project idea ;) You did really great, you can really feel the distance. Don't know if that's a good advice, but maybe use more light lines on Samus's head, to make it feel more 3-dimensional ? It feels like on the same plan for me. Also, love the arms, legs and chest, really feeling like its closer than the rest ! (Especially the right (left?) knee and the right arm (the darker one)

Depth and Form quite hard to differentiate between shadow light. I would like to know where am I going wrong. Tried to pull the front part of the shoe closer to the eye and have have the other side further in the distance,

The main difference will be about the mindset of the drawing, in my opinion. In this picture, the reference can make it harder to notice the difference between the two because the shadow is in our direction. I think I'd make the second shoe lighter. If you squint your eyes, you'll notice you used the same values on the bottom side of the second shoe, making it as if it was as close as the first one. But if the second shoe is further away, it shouldn't have a value that is used on the closest point of the drawing (If that makes sense) Hope I helped, nine months later :')

Wasn't able to print out the assignment, so i resorted to copying the line art using a 2H pencil first, before proceeding with the actual assignment. Can say that it was quite tough as I'd never really considered line weight before, so this was quite new to me. I think I could have emphasized the line weight even further in this case, and wasn't too sure what to emphasize when it came to lighting. Hopefully the demos will enlighten me on this. Any other critiques are welcome!

Good job on your drawings ! My eyes went directly on the pots, so mission accomplished for the hierarchy !! Wonder how it would have turned out, if you would have gone lighter on the other objects, to make it more about the plants. Interesting composition overall, makes a great little story :)

I have one page for the drawing from reference part, and one from imagination. Really enjoyed the result of my reference analyze, but as soon as I went on with the imagination part : Noooooope. Practice makes perfect I guess :') The third one from imagination started to have a little something I guess. Hope you'll like it :p
