I tried to recreated some things that i saw,but its really difficult for me draw things from real life(cause is very boring) i prefer the artwork stuff, but i know that is important . so if you can give me some tip, i would be happy!
Melanie Scearce
My advice would be to find things in life that are enjoyable for you to draw. For me, I love to sit in a coffee shop and sketch people having conversations and waiting in line. The smell of the coffee and the pastries, the soft buzz of people talking quietly, and the playlist of the shop make the entire experience very enjoyable to me. Some people like drawing city scapes, some people like sitting quietly in nature -- just depends on who you are! Try out different setting and subjects and find what you like. In terms of your question about the 2 week challenge, you can do whatever you have the time and the mind to do -- if you want to do both at the same time, go for it!
Manuel Vicente
PD: I have other question, i need to make the 2 week challenge to continue the course? Or i can make it and continue with the other videos?

Can someone please help critique this mannequin study I did to understand the simplification of a complex human gesture or pose? I need help majorly in terms of foreshortening and line quality. Any reviews are much appreciated!

My submission for the first 2 days of the draw from life challenge for the final page I don't have a picture as it was just a variety of quick sketches of my dog and his things ,but I thought it still counted so I put it in regardless.

For my first day, I wanted to draw something simple and interesting, so I chose a random animal to draw: a whale. I simplified a lot since I felt a bit too lazy to go into too many details. I sensed some proportion mistakes since I didn't really care about them too much. The goal of this drawing is to draw from the reference and try not to draw perfectly because it'll stress me out too much, and I won't feel like drawing. (Focusing on the process of drawing instead of the outcome!) Since I have to draw every day, I don't want to burn myself out, so I tried to take it easy and slowly apply what I learned to the drawing. (for this drawing I simplified using CSI)

I think this is a great approach! Slow and steady is the way. You can gain a lot from drawing from life, so try to incorporate that into your practice as well. Good luck with this challenge, I hope to see you post every day :)

Here are my 2 recent drawings and the reference photo, I've really enjoyed drawing insects!

Having a hard time with consistency practicing every day, but doing my best. I am practicing CSI, and animals seem to help me avoid the "I don't know what to draw" issue. At some point I'll turn to inorganics for practicing more straight lines and structure

It was so hard for me to decide what to draw. Creativity is something I haven’t really had or expressed in a while. I hope this challenge helps me bring that back
Rachel Dawn Owens
Creativity is a muscle that you can improve with practice. Draw stuff you’re interested in. Stuff that you like. Food, plants, vehicles, buildings, people, animals, whatever you think is cool. This will build your visual library and make creativity come more naturally over time.

Tried with some objects and also did some warmups. What I noticed is that the proportions are turning out good but the thing I'm struggling with are the confident lines. For example, if I try making an ellipse, I would do the ghosting lines to see where the shapes goes and how, but when I attempt it, either it would be a terrible attempt or I would go on overlapping the lines making it look thick and messy and not clean. I'm really not sure how to make confident lines. Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Day 1 drawn in that order : turtle, cap, little bottle. Somehow it got worse with the bottle although I really tried to get correct proportions :( I have to do more mushrooms for ellipses

Day 3 💪🏼 I think I got a bit too carried away with the finer vein details, and it made things look a bit...I'm not sure..inorganic maybe? Seeing my drawing side-by-side with the reference makes me feel better seeing that the general shape is there. I used the C, S, and I line drawing technique we learned to simplify. Anyways, I will keep on drawing and giving it my best. A big challenge for me is to slow down and be alright with things generally looking correct, but not perfect!

Decided to draw an Xbox controller today, and actually did two attempts! Proportions improved in the second version, but I know I can keep improving. If anyone has feedback, please feel free to share =)!

First day of the challenge, I tried to do a lesson in the past plus CSI. The shadowing lesson is still hard for me :)

Day 1 of 14 it’s been almost a year since I’ve drawn anything proper and boy it feels like it!

I'm on day 1 of the two week challenge. Today I decided to try to draw this small display I have on my coffee table. I took the feedback I received on an earlier assignment and attempted to start with lighter lines, and then I added more weight to the lines I wanted to keep. Finally, I erased the lines I no longer needed. 3D shapes are difficult! I would love feedback and will sporadically post the rest of the challenge as I do it =)
