As much as I'm enjoying Part I of the course I do hope Part II gets an update soon because with my pace I'll be done with the first half very soon. I'm also not a beginner and wanna master perspective for creating killer illustrations but I suppose I'll just have to be patient lol

Every course Marshall puts out is solid gold. I highly recommend you go find and take his Linear Perspective course from 1994 as a prerequisite to this course. This course has been so enjoyable to take. Marshall is an amazing teacher and makes learning exciting and entertaining. His intellect is intimidating and impressive, but he finds away to make the material understandable and clear for us mere mortals. Marshall is a treasure and what makes it even better is the fact he is also a great person. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I truly appreciate it.

I've been so excited today that I Just wanna share that @Marshall Vandruff 's Perspective Course has been a blessing in my Art Life! In November last year, I am not capable of drawing objects more complex than basic shapes, let alone drawing landscape or sketching a full illustration for personal project. In fact, I burnt out from learning art for 2 years until one day I stumbled upon the news that Marshall's Perspective Course had been released, re-igniting this old fire to continue this invigorating voyage again. And oh boy what a journey it have been so far.. From depth tricks, into eating pancakes, into grids, eye level, and more. Soaking all of the lessons in this course so far has gradually shaped my confidence to start drawing intuitively. Perspective, a threatening term in the past, not anymore today. Bless you sensei Marshall, I know the journey is not over, we've yet to even enter the 2nd part of the course, but I can tell that it will be a delightful 5-star michelin dish to gobble down straight into our Mitochondria.

The course looks amazing! My only question is when do videos for "Mastering the Skills" start to come out?

Still working through part 1, it was projected to wrap up in September. The little meter says we're 92 percent the way done for Part 1 so I'm assuming we are still on track to hit that time frame.

I have not bought the course yet, but I was wondering if masrshall is going to cover complex scenes and environments, backrounds,architecture, that have multiple objects and props within a given scene. So far from what I have seen in the syllabus, it looks like alot of the basics and individual objects.

Hi everyone. It’s been about three days since I started the course — will I be able to draw human by then? Looking at the curriculum, there seems to be a lot about drawing houses, structures, and angular objects. I wanna draw human. Is it useful to me?

Hi All, I purchased the course in the beginning, but an only now able to start. There is so much stuff on each tab I'm totally lost where do I start. Do I watch the first thing from each tab or everything on a tab then move on? Please help!
Saurav Lama
Hi, you can start from the first module Introduction to Perspective! Best wishes for your journey!
@antsinyourpants
I started this course a few days ago and I'm struggling a bit with the lack of direction/structure so far. I'm sure starting late hasn't helped but, is there a certain amount of time I should be spending with each lesson group? I'm not sure how many videos I should be watching before stopping and sitting with the assignment/knowledge for awhile.
Michael Giff
So if you were following along with the class "live" you would be essentially going through one video per week. Typically it goes as follows: Lecture/Assignment: Spend a week and struggle with it. Demo/Further Explanation: Spend another week applying this new knowledge. (Sometimes there will will be many more videos than that one demo and again each video, one week.) Critique: Review common and more complex problems other students have. Begin Next Lesson: Rinse, Repeat. That is essentially the rhythm of the class if you were following along. Now based on your proficiency, talent and aptitude with drawing you may need more or less time with each assignment. If you take a peek at my albums you can probably tell that I need to spend a lot more than one week per video but I'm forcing myself to stay with the class because I have a bad habit of getting stuck and never working through to the next chapter (I typically work with books). By forcing myself to follow along at this pace I'm assured to at least complete the class. I can always go back and start over and probably will after I take a basic class. Hope that was helpful. Best of Luck.

I know this course still has a long way to go, but I already feel more confident it tackling complex problems. For example, drawing a bicycle. If I know what it looks from the side, I can put it in a box and feel it out.

In the course I see that the teacher explains well how to draw individual objects in 3D, but will there be detailed demonstrations on how to build an entire scene in perspective? At the moment, everything is very fragmented in my head and I would like to have an idea of how to put it all together.

We've got some demos from Phil Dimitriadis that will be in lesson group 11 that will focus on this. We expect those will be released around mid to late August.

I'm loving this corse! Thank you Marshall. I can move objects around with ease.
@the_soothsayer
There are 2 parts to this course. Is there a way to check exactly which videos each part unlocks before I buy it? I would also like to know for how long will the summer sale code be available for.
Djay Elements
It’s in 2 parts. Marshall is putting out new lessons and videos weekly. I paid for the first part and it was worth it. I watched each video 10x and still have those “ohh moments “ everything up to the XYZ/grids is unlocked for me. Also tech support is awesome with questions. I watched all the free videos on YouTube but when you follow the lessons it all makes sense. My 2 cents…

Part 1 we expect to be done by November. Part 2 is a bit harder to give an accurate date because we've still been focused too heavily on part 1. I can say production will have to have a bit of a break between the two parts so we can finish editing and build a backlog for a consistent release.

Is part 2 part of. The master the skills course?
Charlie Nicholson
Yes, that's right
@agradoville
I want to take this course but work full time. How much time will need to be devoted to this on a weekly basis?
Dedee Anderson Ganda
Im working full time too! The lessons comes out once or two every week but not all lessons are assignments so its up to you to practice them everyday/week or when assignments comes up! But if you need number, I would say practice with the course an hour a day for 3-5 days weekly will be pretty good enough! Of course more is better

My goals for the year & this class are to improve my sketchbook by 1) understanding when to use one, two, or three-point perspective, 2) learning to use a ruler and grid, 3) being able to create a sense of depth when sketching buildings or landscapes. I have included images that I made myself with the intention of making sketches later, but which are beyond my skills. I have also included sketches by Van Gogh and illustrations by Dorothee Duntze (the garden) and Lisbeth Zwerger (the seascape.
Michael Giff
Happy New Year! I hope we can all find some new perspective this year... ha? You see? You see what a did there.... Okay, I'll show myself out.
