I want to take this course but work full time. How much time will need to be devoted to this on a weekly basis?
Im working full time too!
The lessons comes out once or two every week but not all lessons are assignments so its up to you to practice them everyday/week or when assignments comes up!
But if you need number, I would say practice with the course an hour a day for 3-5 days weekly will be pretty good enough! Of course more is better
My goals for the year & this class are to improve my sketchbook by 1) understanding when to use one, two, or three-point perspective, 2) learning to use a ruler and grid, 3) being able to create a sense of depth when sketching buildings or landscapes. I have included images that I made myself with the intention of making sketches later, but which are beyond my skills. I have also included sketches by Van Gogh and illustrations by Dorothee Duntze (the garden) and Lisbeth Zwerger (the seascape.
Happy New Year! I hope we can all find some new perspective this year... ha? You see? You see what a did there.... Okay, I'll show myself out.
Hello! I was wondering if there is a roadmap or schedule for this class? Mostly wondering how long until it is finished :) thank you!
It's here! I'm so excited. Thank you for the time and dedication you've put into this course. I'm certain that it's been worth the wait.
I'm super excited for this course! I bought the 1994 course a few years ago and learned a lot from Marshall.
I bought the old perspective lectures and found them helpful, I've progressed alot since then but this course still looks great, can't believe how long it was in the works but how suddenly it released.
Hello everyone, I was just recently gifted this course by my family! I am very excited and eager to learn everything that this course has to offer. I am a self taught artist, and mostly draw from reference, but would love to learn from Marshall. I am very happy to be here.
Hello everyone! I'm Phoenix Baldwin. Normally I write Children's Books that don't require much Perspective expertise, but I have my heart set on being able to do more elaborate, exciting and convincing environments! I'll attach a bit of my long-held treasure hoard... I'll be taking most of my inspiration from Yana Toboso and Gustave Dore. I like the way the styles work together and I love these black and white compositions. Can't wait to learn from you once again, Marshall. This course has been long anticipated....... no pressure. :)
Hello :) I’m Sara
I’d like to learn to draw from imagination - I’m also someone who’s mostly only done drawing through copying either life or reference. Nice to meet everyone! :)
Can’t wait! Over the years, I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the more complex concepts of perspective drawing. There are two things I constantly struggle with or just can’t seem to fully grasp:
1.) When I study images to understand perspective, I have trouble identifying the type of perspective and which lines to follow. For example (see the first image), it’s a painting with buildings, and I try to use the geometric shapes of the buildings to figure out where the perspective lines are converging. But it quickly gets confusing—there are so many lines... which ones are the key ones?
2.) I understand 2-point perspective in general, but when it comes to figuring out equal measurements for objects within the 2-point perspective plane, how can I solve it geometrically by drawing it out—like using guide lines based on the vanishing points? (See the second image.) I’d like to figure this out quickly, using just perspective techniques—without needing a calculator or compass.
Aside from that, I’m super excited for the course to start!
EXTREMELY EXCITED FOR THIS COURSE! Thanks a lot Proko and Marshal! Here are a few images of where i wanne be at with perspective in the future. I am a painter and want to be able to make paintings with this level of complexity. First 3 images is what i want to achieve, last 3 images is where im currently at. 👀🌞
Maybe an odd question, but how much are geometrical principles used when working with perspective?
so I'll also learn forms? :0
This curriculum is posted by one of the mods, and from what i can tell forms will be discussed in this course and they will go more into detail about froms in part-2 portion of the course.
I second this question, along with will we learn anything about character construction in perspective?
