First I did some practice blobs. I think I started getting the hang of them at around number 6. I drew a model Suzuki Jimny. I really want to get better at drawing cars, but I've always struggled to get the features aligned in perspective. The Jimny is basically a box on wheels so it's pretty basic as far as cars go. One problem I had was getting everything in the correct ratio. For example, the first one I tried to draw from memory was really short and stumpy, it looks cute like an Akira Toriyama car, which is actually kind of charming, but not what I was intending. The final one is also a little disproportionate, but I can't really put my finger on where I got it wrong. On the final one, I also drew some extra details on just for fun.

I pulled out the Jimny model again drew a front and side view like explained in the Objects and Environments lesson and then did a few more free handed versions with the blob method. I feel these ones have more of a likeness than most of my previous attempts.

I don't own a compass and didn't want to scrounge around my house for circular objects to trace every day, so I printed out a children's craft worksheet with lots of circles. The activity is fun and if I have a few minutes I need to kill in the day I fill out a couple of circles. I'm trying to rotate the page as little as possible and I think you can tell my stronger angles from my weaker ones.

Hi Marshall!! I wanted to draw this figure 8 shape. The first image is my rough sketch, I left some of my guidelines in the first version of the shape. This one is basically two squares with holes punched in them. The second version has the vertical line impossibly passing behind the horizontal line - it looks more like a figure 8. The external lines of the two shapes are exactly the same.

Really cool figure 8!

Your breakdown really made me appreciate this image. At a glance it looks like it's entirely organic in nature, but at a closer look it's very carefully structured in ways I never even imagined.
