ASSIGNMENTS
Line Quality and Control Exercise:
Dedicate one page to practicing different types of lines, including ghosting techniques.
Experiment with striking lines through a central dot in a spoke wheel design, ensuring equal length and spacing.
Primitive Shapes Practice:
Allocate another page to understanding and practicing ellipses and spheres.
Explore exercises designed to improve familiarity with basic primitive shapes.
Here’s a few pages of the form intersections. This was a pretty fun exercise. Definitely took some thought.
I’m not quite sure I understand how to do this. I can’t for the life of me think about it intuitively
It definitely takes time before this feels intuitive. Cylinders and spheres are the hardest in my opinion. Your intersections look convincing. What helped me was the idea of a "dominant box":if I want to intersect into it, I just copy the edges of the dominant box into the other one. Hopefully this image makes it clearer(the red box being the dominant box)
Some to start! I am not sure if the form intersections are correct, but I’m trying!
A sample of my practice exercises. I'm finding it difficult to visualise the intersection between curved and straight shapes, so that will be my focus in future warmups.
First page of form intersections. My brain is cooking. Steam out the ears etc.
I'm struggling to understand form intersections, specifically the addition ones. I don't always understand the cut outs. On the example below why does the cut out not continue around (in blue)?
I would really appreciate someone helping me get this. Thanks

Ya, these are frustrating. Have you tried looking at this site
https://eyes.training/intersections/
Sometimes this helps me solve especially confusing intersections, or at least give me a clue.
Here's my assignment exercises C: I found that, at least after a bit, with normal spheres it wasn't going too terribly, but with the concentric ones it all fell apart and I was really struggling to keep the sphere within the grid, and especially trying to make the following spheres with equal spacing. Any tips on this would be great! I also realised how bad I am at boxes, which was a terrifying but great revelation:'D Form intersections are also really challenging, but honestly all of this is, so just going to keep practicing and warming up with this C:
here are the exercises for this assignment. I did all of my work in pen so I wouldn’t be tempted to erase any mistakes. Instead, learn from them and keep note on what I need to improve on as I continue to practice drawing the different shapes
Notes from the lessons and suggested exercises. This information is helping me draw through the Loomis books and other classes as well.
Fun stuff!!!! I had a lot of fun time doing this and just shutting my brain off to do the basic volume practice!
I think chaining forms together will definitely become a good sketchbook exercise for me :)
Hello, I tried some form intersections. Boxes are easy enough, but anything rounded and my brain gets overloaded. I think the biggest challenge is that it's hard to check whether it's correct or not, as there are not many resources out there to compare with...
hi, i have the same problem. i use this free 3d tool to check: https://app.spline.design/home
it's super helpful!

Have you tried using the form intersection site? Those 3d models some time help.
https://eyes.training/intersections/
Unfortunately, all I could manage to do today were a couple pages of warm-ups and one more page of overlapping shapes. I had a go at sculpting/modifying/cutting from a square, but my brain just couldn't figure out how. I'll keep trying and see if I can post tomorrow as well
Rough go at the form intersections, gonna work harder on the line quality and the perspective on some of the lines.
