Two-Point Box Warm-ups taken way too far.
LESSON NOTES

What's in Premium?

In the premium lesson, you'll learn the two-point boxes warm-up, a foundational exercise designed to practice perspective. You'll learn to:

  • Set up a dynamic scene with a low horizon line and strategically placed vanishing points.
  • Begin with the first box, focusing on the edge closest to you, and progress with confidence using a pen to commit to clean, deliberate lines.
  • Utilize guidelines to accurately find the second vanishing point and create cubes that can be adjusted for proper perspective.
  • Apply creativity to transform basic boxes into complex objects, while learning from mistakes to refine your technique.
  • Understand the effects of angles near the horizon and how to adjust the picture plane to control distortion in your drawings.

This exercise is not just about warming up; it's about building a solid foundation for more complex projects. Get the full lesson in the premium course!

Follow along as I warm up with boxes in 2-point perspective. Try to do this for 15 minutes every day until the project video comes out.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Perspective is one of those things that intellectually makes sense, i.e. we can think it out, but is hard to get intuitively at first. Start with the little rules, things like "if something is further away, it will seem smaller" and "lines will converge to a vanishing point" and just have faith that those will become natural over time. Don't be afraid to use a ruler if that's what it takes to get you there. In time, things will start to click. Keep at it.
