IM BACK FROM THE DEAD, SCHOOL AND OTHER STUFF CAN NOT STOP ME FOREVER

Im sorry but I just cant wrap my mind around this. I feel like I do better naturally just making the box. This feels like an extra step that just sort of distracts me. Im sure Im just not understanding but its another one of those things that I dont know what questions to ask in order to figure out what Im doing wrong. Would love some advice on this. The past few lessons have been a challenge to understand and Im worried about advancing further.

The after-demo try, the coloured pencil really helped with keeping the lines clean! Though I still sometimes struggle to hold on to the shape of the initial blob.

These were really relaxing exercises after finishing the whole section on perspective. Let me know if there’s anything I could improve – I’d love your feedback!

Tried to apply more what I learned from the demooo.

I loved this project . I could ‘ see ‘ more . I had to revisit the girl with the guns as i think she’s cool . But i could feel a shift in what i saw . I know i need more prac . Any critique welcome .

Had another go, this time focusing on depth in level 1 and crafting different blobs in level 2. I think some work still needs to be done on the proportions, and some of the boxes don't really fit the blobs too well. But at least they look like people.

Maybe not exactly according to the assignment, but I loved this pose (the witch in the Coen brother’s version of MacBeth 🤩) so much that I tried to create boxes there - with the help of Skelly. - Inspired by the first image of ‘a group of figures’ by Luca Cambiaso from R.B. Hale’s book.

started of more trying to fit the blobs into boxes akin to head boxes. realised my mistake and began to morph the blobs into more box like forms. occasional convergence point issues & unconfident line. feedback welcome.

Could I get critiqued if I’m doing this project right from the drawing basics course

Could I get some critics please I tried placing my blobs above,below and in between the horizon line for the level 2

I've really enjoyed working on this project. Recently, I found the courage to draw something personally meaningful, not just my daily practice exercises. I used this technique from this lesson to create a drawing of a character I really like, incorporating an interesting perspective. It was the first time I felt I could apply the lessons to something I'm passionate about. I have just been feeling so scared to draw for myself because it feels so safe just grinding the lessons every day for hours.

Stan’s example made me think of Onyx which put me on a pokétrain ;)

These are my most recent Blobs to Boxes. I do feel a little unimaginative with the project and find myself folowing the same routine with each set of Blobs ! I'm not sure how to vary things more. Looking at the drawings I've posted, I've just noticed that I've lost diminution alot too, as I've got larger boxes further away! I've also noticed you can't see my blobs ! So I've highlighted them in the second image.

This was so much fun!! And so very important. I am used to sketch my designs in blobs. Which is great if you want to draw movement and dynamic poses. But the advantige of drawing boxes over the blobs is that you get way more acurate with shape and placement. In my blobsketch the placement of the wings is off (too much to the left.) But I only figured that out after I drew the boxes. If there is any other stuff that you can correct me on, I would very much appreciate it.

Here are some attempts since the demo. I thought I was doing well until I went away for a minute after finishing them. When I came back the boxes look distorted and the red hidden edge lines really made it worse for me, as the boxes can change there appearance with them drawn in. That said I think the red lines emphasise the distortion of the boxes I've drawn. I need a lot of practice on this but would like to think I was practicing good methology than wrong. Any advise to help to sort out the head box thinking to address the visual errors would be much appreciated. Thanks for this great exercise.

Thanks for the demo, it definitely helped me to create more dynamic compositions than in my critique request.

The last little bit I'm interested in maybe hearing more about - I found doing my blobs that in order to get the boxes to actually work in perspective I'd always have to cut off a lot more of the blob than I expected initially - I guess my question is what degree is that an expectation (a blob and a box aren't 1-1, there's going to be some gaps on either side) vs. a miss (the blob exists, the box exists, but don't have enough to do with each other to be meaningful). Since it's a tool/exercise I'm sure the answer is 'it depends' on whether there's utility gained here, but... A broad way of thinking about it at least?
