Impression of the reference. As far as I’m able to use Procreate. I’m sure there’s a lot more possible to make this better.

Went digital on this assignment, still learning the program so it look a little longer than expected. Eye dropper and lasso tools were very much appreciated for this one.

The lasso tool- highly underrated. Nice work @edel82 If you bring the value closer together on that inner shadow, it may have a bit of a unifying effect on the overall shape of the barn.

I wanted to add the darkest dark and use more values. So this was limiting. But I think I caught the most important points.

You did a nice job with this @Basak

@shayy02 I went into your painting with a bit of line and defined a few planes. I had to push it darker into the shadows with an overall multiply layer first, and then painted some of the lights and details back in. It's a good start, and a big part of this is just figuring out where the information is needed.

I mixed up puddles of gray paint and matched them to my Value Chart, so they must be right, but yet they look wrong and I don’t seem to have them properly balanced. I guess I just need more practice.

@Fran Turner Just remember that all values are relative and it's very hard to gauge them when they are not right next to each other. The value may be a bit dark for high key painting, but you still ended up with a nice little painting. Is this in gouache? Gouache and acrylics both dry darker, as well.

I’m digging these exercises

Nice brush work @Dax Hansen You have a bit more value range to go a touch lighter, if you want. You can use some of those highlights to introduce harder edges.

@Eduardo Rubio Nice work here! You might benefit from a bit of shape welding in the sky and lower right portion of the ship. Once you've defined your shapes as well as you have here, choosing to lose edges can be a very nice touch.

I love this. Very ghostly. Reminds me of the Gerhard Richter b&w photo paintings

@C P That's a hard thing to pull off in acrylics! A little trick I've discovered is to go back and to clean up the image with harder edges and subtle contrast where your lightest lights and darkest darks meet. Rough painter- no tablet or Cintiq with me today!
