Assignment: Draw the Pelvis

Your assignment for this week is to do 3 drawings using the 3d model in the downloads tab. Start with the bucket, cut out a wedge, and then draw the pelvis inside. After you have completed your drawings from the 3d model, draw 3 more from your imagination.

The third one from imagination really broke my brain (the one on the lower right )… I wanted to challange myself a little by choosing a pose from underneath but I‘m not sure I got it right… Critique is much appreciated:))

Very challenging foreshortening on that position so kudos for giving it a shot! I tried to match the 3D model as close to the position as possible. The bottom plane of your bucket feels too large, which then smooshes the side planes down, shrinking the height. You lose that shape that the iliac crest and the sacrum make -- kind of like a shorthand for a flying bird -- which is still visible on an even more extreme angle. You have the sacrum positioned correctly on the bottom plane, so making sure that the bottom plane is in the correct position relative to the rest of the bucket will resolve those issues. These are really beautiful drawings, keep it up!

This is my second attempt after watching the critics , I focused of expressing the three dimensionality of the form

Wow! These are solid. If you wanted to emphasize the depth even more, you could push the lineweights. Darker lines will bring a shape forward. Erasing some of the lines back a bit would make them recede. You did this some with the construction lines, but I think you could push it even more with the actual pelvis drawing.

First three are from reference. Second set of three off the dome. Have you ever wanted to torpedo every ounce of confidence you ever had in your ability to render forms in three dimensional perspective? Draw pelvises. My god….

So good!

I struggle a lot with drawing ellipses and their axes, and I end up understanding nothing of the structure, any tips?

These look awesome! Pelvises are a tricky subject, but it looks like you got it!

The last one is the only one I don't like. It feels a bit too skinny, but Idk

Hello everyone, here is my work for the pelvis Asg! Perspective was the hardest for this and definitely looking to get some advice on that if possible! Thank you in advance!
