Asked for help
Hi Marshall!
I definitely struggled a bit with this project. I chose a relatively simple form- a perfume bottle composed of a cylinder with a sphere sitting on top. It took me several tries to get a passable attempt done.
I started with the blob, then created the boxes, then sketched in the ellipses/spherical forms. The blob ended up being a very, very rough shape that was mostly ignored later on.
I had difficulty placing the sphere on top because a cross section of it intersects with the cylinder. I also had trouble sketching in the ellipses- I know the basic process, but I need practice. Working without marked vanishing points also made it hard to draw in the edges of the boxes. There was definitely a lot of guessing/estimating going on here, but I made an effort!
I have a tendency to obsess over the technical process/doing things the "right" way which I think will actually be useful once I know the proper techniques.

Leil! You're doing it!
Your obsession is a major reason why you're doing it well. I don't want to stop your obsession IF you're enjoying it. You are very well on your way!

Hi Marshall!
Here are my isometric illusions. I struggled a bit at first, but doing some rough sketches helped me get into the groove of it. I ended up drawing out a quick isometric graph as a base to help me see things more clearly, and I also found that starting in the bottom right corner of the drawing and building upward made it much easier.

Hi! My name is Leil. I’m currently studying to become a concept artist with a focus on live action character/costume design. I love anything fantasy or sci-fi. My favorites include Lord of the Rings, Baldur’s Gate 3, Doctor Who, and Star Wars.
1.
I don’t really have favorite perspective artists- instead I tend to gather pieces that I like from various sources. I really like interior environment designs, especially the cutaway style pieces from FZD School of Design. Growing up, I loved the cutaway illustrations of castles from Osprey’s history books for children. I would love to be able to draw medieval castles, taverns, kitchens, libraries, pirate ships, etc.
I love the idea of being able to create a cozy, beautiful space full of magic and character.
I’ve attached some pieces I really like. Even though my focus is character/costume design, environment design is something I definitely want to be proficient in as well.
2.
I have learned one-point, two-point and three-point perspective before, but I feel that the classes I’ve taken were not as thorough or clear as I would have liked.
I am particularly intimidated by drawing buildings/cities/villages. I want to deepen my understanding of various perspective grids, drawing architecture, staircases, ellipses, shadow mapping, and placing figures/animals in a piece as well.
I’m very excited for this class! I have enjoyed learning from Marshall before through Proko’s anatomy course, and I feel that the level of instruction will be much higher than what I’ve experienced in my past perspective courses.
