If I watch the lessons and practice for an hour everyday as recommended, approximately how long will it take to go through this course?
You're not really supposed to "get through" the course. If all you're focused on is the end, you won't see what's on the road.
It´s hard to say. The complete course consists of 364 lessons an you´re supossed to do 1 lesson each week. Theorically, it will take you around six years to finish the course and finishing it doesn´t means you learn everything. Anatomy takes a long time to study, but don´t worry, learning just some of anatomy can make a big difference in your drawings. Also, I recommmend investing some time practicing the figure drawings fundamentals before learning anatomy.
I am very likely to purchase the head and figure drawing courses, but am unsure about this course which is quite a bit more expensive. I can see that it would be very useful for more advanced human figure drawing. However, my main interest is in animal drawing, would the techniques learned in this course be helpful in that arena? Obviously the specific anatomies will differ, except possibly for primates, but would there be enough general techniques in learning anatomy to justify buying the course? I should say that I have signed up for Aaron Blaise animal drawing courses so this would be in addition to those.
you can find a discount code online that drops it down a bit, also you can think of each part of the body as it's own separate course that will take equally as long as the gesture course so you only need to get 1 course at a time every few months or more. It's what I am doing. It took one person on here like 2 years to get through portait, gesture, anatomy.
What does Proko recommend to do first? The fundamentals of figure drawing or the anatomy course?

Now that we have the basics course out he would recommend basics > figure > anatomy
Figure drawing is considered a more basic fundamental course. If you don't to know how to draw gesture and mannequinize the figure, you'll be adding anatomical details over a faulty foundation.
Cause I don't want my figures looking like they have no design , but I also think figures where you know where to accurately place the muscles and choose to leave things out are stronger
Is there any official way (aside from perhaps Facebook; which I do not have access to) to get feedback in this course on homework/practice? Or do we just post it here and hope to get feedback so we do not keep making the same mistakes?

Hi, the course is almost complete. I believe the only thing left are the pdfs from the leg and foot muscles. But Proko won't charge anything more for this.
Stan; I am a doctor, and I originally took a Life Drawing class in college with the idea that I'd learn enough to draw diagram-type pictures for my patients. Well, no, I learned to be even more embarrassed of my work than before. I am stubborn though, and kept drawing with not a lot of progress for...decades. Several of them.
One thing I found with drawing human figures is the appreciation for any configuration of body parts that works! People get around with the strangest posture and movement! The ability to move, balance, sit/stand/walk just floors me with its grace and precision, even when we slip an extra 5-75 pounds on a skeleton not designed for that.
I plan to dedicate my allegiance to Proko 2.0 by rededicating to daily practice of drawing and asking for feedback! That is the missing piece, you are SO right! Along with the community part because we are all more social than we like to admit sometimes. I would like a drawing group, with some loving accountability. Is there a mechanism to have that happen? There is SO MUCH on this new website maybe I missed that. Let me say again how much I appreciate your work, how inspiring you are and what a spectacular website with you and your fellow experts! I am grateful.

Learning to draw is hard. Learning too draw _well_ is even harder. But if you didn't make progress for decades, very likely you didn't know _how_ to learn it properly. Because just drawing isn't enough, you need a method and mindset for learning. Most importantly, you have to be deliberate in your actions - any study, any practice you do, you have to know what you are doing and why are you doing it.
I believe Proko will be a great place for you to find what's missing from your puzzle. The anatomy course is really great and while lot of it will be things you already know, there will be plenty of information that are specific to the artist's point of view. Having medical understanding of anatomy, and knowing how to draw it are not the same things. :)
Also, there are already some great videos on both the Proko YouTube channel and some other channels that tackle the fundamentals of drawing itself. Because before you learn to draw anatomy, you need to learn to draw, in general.
