Theres no assignment but I thought it would be worthwhile to practice fists a little.

Hi @Ezra, nice studies! The hand could feel more clearly connected to the lower arm by having them interact more. I did a paintover with some tips! I hope this helps :)

Here are my fist studies, which are charcoal on newsprint. I'm really loving these hand exercises, they're a lot of fun. The references are based on my own hand (one from a photo, and one from real life).

Steve is right (as usually), but I think your line quality and hatching is very pleasing!

Hey Wendy, Your hand drawings are very nice, they have a good solid feel. One of the things I noticed is that your wrinkles are very flat, which flattens out the forms. Try to make sure the wrinkles work for you as cross contours, that way they give a more 3 dimensional feel to the forms. I did a couple of sketches to show you what I mean, I hope it helps :)

Happy to hold a pencil again after digital drawing. The paper is thin and shiny, I guess not te right newsprint, but I like the colour more than the grey.

The form on the knuckles on the left side is great! It starts feeling a little flatter on the left, which isn’t the end of the world since that doesn’t seem to be the focal point. However I think it’d work better if you had the leftmost edge of the pinky be a tiny bit lighter than the rest of it instead of darker, to show bounce light. I also think it’d look better if the angle change between the hand and the forearm was less extreme. When I try to put my wrist in that position it’s pretty uncomfortable. your anatomy and shapes look great please let me know if you have questions!

2022/1/5. Good morning everybody. Here's my assignment for this section. 60 min. drawing. For the gesture and the forms I didn't use any reference except my left fist. The light direction and the shadows are from my imagination. Thanks.
