The guy from BluishDot
Compared to the attempt I had before watching the demo, this one was a way more pleasant experience. Seeing how to approach this type of exploration was very helpful in giving the process a bit more structure for me. Only after watching this did I realize how chaotic I went about it on the first try. These demos are great. Thanks!

I really like what you did with the leftmost drawing on page 2 - proportions are perfect, and the pose has energy, like something is about to happen... nice job!

Enjoyed this exercise a lot, and strangely found VR Girl to be the easiest of the three, while I was expecting the opposite. The hand I drew looks like it went through a stump grinder.

Your lines look great! I would make sure if you try again to try to capture the lines of energy through the forms. Think of it a bit like a sculpture. Find the rough forms so you capture the energy, then gradually refine the lines! Keep it up!

Tried the camel today. LOTS of difficulty getting the head proportions right. Drawing a circle to represent the back of the head and then building the features off of that worked the best, but still not happy with the overall proportions. Feedback appreciated!

Tried Skelly tonight after having a rough time with the boot laces on the “beginner” assignment. Enjoyed this one, but probably could have added more detail… dunno.

Running a bit behind on my lessons… this was a fun one.

Just wanted to add, this exercise alone has already improved my line drawings dramatically. Doodled this while at work: still have a long way to go, but happy that the lines are looking more “organic”.

Another try with pear #1, this time using better paper. Think I need to spend more time on the details in the shadow area, as all of the drawings I’ve seen that do that are much more interesting to look at.

I liked practicing finding the values from colors and having to make decisions on only 5 total values.

I like all of the detail you found in the shadows!

Not too happy with this one. Tones are all over the place, and pressing slightly too hard with the 2B kept putting me in 4B territory. Enjoyed the process though… will try again tomorrow.

I actually think you have the right idea with the tones you just have to start out light and just gradually layer to avoid going too dark ( at least that's what i found out ). I would also say that some of your tones are either too big or too small. Like the highlight on the end I would try making smaller and the darker mid tone in the middle I would make bigger. Of course these are just my thoughts, other then that I think you did really well with the overall shapes of the pomegranate/shadows and highlights. Keep going :)

That's a hard one to do!

I struggled, especially with the portrait.

I think your portrait is great. You managed to capture a likeness with some simple planes, something I’m still struggling with. Well done!

Not a level 2 student by any means, but gave it a shot anyway.
