added comment inProject - Organizing Line Weight
Asked for help
Hi ! This is before watching the demo (but waaay after ma last submission here!) For the hierarchy of importance, I chose the head and pectoral area mainly because those are the most striking to me. For the light and shadow, to be it kinda felt like the very first value project of the course with the pear and portrait, but for outline only. I did draw since last time, including with conscious line weights, but I don't know why I procrastinated this exercise, as it was very satisfying. :) I'll go and see the demo now !
Tell me what you think of it !

I really like how you enforced the shadowy line weight with some extra shadow!

Day 13 (I mixed up in the days!) : lion sketch
After watching the critique of observation drawing, I'm trying to get more loose confident lines to fight against perfectionism of looking for pure pretty lines, but the balance to make it "confident and loose yet not messy in the bad way" is hard to find !
Which one is your favorite ? Any advice to help me improve ?

Day 11 : pumpkin, nettle and jewellery
i practiced CSI, line quality, tapered strokes, and line searching today: back to fundamentals !
I also experimented some watercolor pencils which I had totally forgotten, for fun. Color is a whole new subject, and I won't let me be distracted by it just yet !
Best regards

I am proud to say that I drew everyday for two weeks! I made a lot of drawings but I would like just to share a few of them here with you all. :D (My favorite of these ones is the frog!)

Hi ! This is my second attempt at this after the demo. It's also day 11 of the two-week challenge.
I chose the bighorn sheep. I did over the course of the whole day. It started very stiff, very close to the reference. I couldn't get loose and relaxed enough to go to imagination at first, but after a while I managed to get the "flow" state of mind, and things got way more fun (drawings on the lower part of the second page). On the third page of drawings I tried some cartoonish / younger versions of it, but I'm not as satisfied with them than with the ones in the second page. I realize once again that darker pencils (2B) are easier for me to get tapered and searching lines flowing, compared to my more traditional 2H sketching pencil.
As always, all feedbacks are welcome !

So I picked a Crocodille/alligator cause I never drew any of these. I made up a story or two actually. 1. She is a girl that stole mums make up and accessories to play pretend and she is playing she is the mum or something 2. She is a teenage girl going to prom or first date and is trying hard to impress. Do not know where the story came up but somehow it did and it helped me it eased me and made it even more fun cause I have no clue about these creatures and their anatomy so it was a bit of struggle and I used the first drawings to kinda test drawing them really. But I had real fun!
I don't know what you need help for, but I do like the dynamics of your sketches. It's a nice idea to create a little story, like a "persona" for your character, as it allows you to make it richer. I see mostly side view references and sketches, you may experiment with other views (front, belly, etc.)

Days 9 & 10 : Rome
This was really challenging, but very satisfying. It was an emotional rollercoaster between satisfaction and fear of not going through with this challenge a bit "out of my league". All in all, a lot of observation, a lot of fun trying to simplify values and lines, refining, and an end result which I like.

Day 8 : bears (again). This photo of bears by Nikolai Zinoviev inspired me, and I decided to give it a go as a birthday present to myself. I'm quite satisfied with it, even though it required some unusual tasks for me (fur and complex values). I started with rough envelope to setup proportions, the. some study lines / CSI, and switched last to values. It's kinda hard to create light values when somewhat dark outlines are in place. I tried to compensate that with some light background, but the light fur of the older bear could have been perfectly white for more contrast.
Anyway, I'm happy with the result, so I'm out for a reward!
As always, comments are very welcome!

I love your reference photo and your drawing is so pleasant. You draw so carefully.
Happy Birthday!
Check out this neat Proko tool to help students simplify their reference photos.

I think this could help you see the values. Take artistic liberties where you want, but simplifying your reference like this is a great place to start.
Nice drawings and experiments. Those are from live observation I guess ? Isn't it hard or too distracting to keep your hand in the same position throughout the drawing session ?

Day 7 (yesterday) : my bag. I was quite tired for other reasons, and drawing was a welcome distraction to clear my head, but it was harder than usual. The proportions are wrong, even if I'm the only one noticing it. I am still in the mood "I want my drawing to be as accurate as reality as possible". I feel that I need that before moving forward to more "interpretative" drawings.
