I feel dum for asking but what is that brush you are using. Soft Round brush? Struggling to find a nice brush on procreate that feels like yours (sketch if no texture).
Hector Guerrero
I was wondering also lol
Michael Hampton
Here's a screenshot. I use a stock round brush in photoshop with these settings.

How is the shape design? Don't mind the line quality. This is just a test.
Martha Muniz
Looking great! I love the variety explored in these designs.
@soffe
Very easy to understad.
Michael Hampton
Great work!

Does it matter what type of pencil we use? I heard that beginner artist subconsciously try to hide bad quality lines and curves with normal sketch pencils. It's better to use ink pens when practicing because it exposes and makes it clear to the eyes every flaw in line making when self critiquing. Hopes with question makes sense. Thanks.

I love using microns for line practice, forms, etc. Comes from tattoo apprentice days haha. But it is more to put myself in a headspace that I am just practicing basics and to be okay with mistakes. It also helps me to draw with pen to build confidence to just just start drawing on a blank page.

Totally makes sense. And I agree. I prefer pens for these exercises. My favorite are the standard bic pens. I have a red and black. I love these because they don't bead up or smear. You can also be a little looser/sketchier with them unlike a marker. Hope this helps!

It's simple, I see michael hampton selling something.. I click buy.

Haha. Well, I hope the video is useful too. Thank you

Is it the type of papper that makes my shading messy?

Try resting your hand on a loose piece of paper and your hand won't smudge the lead. Alternatively you can buy a drawing glove that will help with that too.

I agree with @boilerpharm's advice to use a piece of paper to prevent smudging the graphite around. But if you are referring to the texture and value consistency within the pear, it could be some of the paper texture showing through, but I think how you layer in the graphite could have a greater impact. With the heavier layering in the dark values, I think this shows good consistency, but with the lighter halftones, it could help to start with a lighter pencil and lighter pressure and gradually layer in tone until you reach the needed value. That way, it creates a cleaner and consistent look with the paper texture evened out.
@boilerpharm
Try putting another clean piece of paper under your hand when you draw, so you aren't rubbing if through the graphite. That should help a lot. I use a scrap of tracing paper.
