This was a fun challenge. I'm definitely looking at lines differently. Looking forward to the section on perspective! It was super hard to imagine the light source coming from a different direction on the rhino.

This has been a really interesting project for me. At first I felt like It just wasn't working. Then I kind of got the hang of some of the shapes and managed to create something clean, but It borrowed a lot from the reference in terms of pose. The Critiques video was useful to encourage another go at It and this time I felt like I could play with the shapes and forms. I feel like something Is starting to click and I'm not just running headfirst with a blindfold on. Anyway. This course has already changed my relationship with art.

That was really challenging! At first I felt really out of my depth but through a bunch of loose sketches I started to find the shapes more familiar.

Keep up the sketching! This is looking good 👍

I worked on this for 2.5 hours and then watched the demo. After that I spent another half hour. I could definitely spend longer getting the proportions right. After watching the demo I'm realising that I don't spend much time making changes and fixing the shapes before moving on.

That's really good!

Before and after watching the demo. I think the proportions are a bit off but I'm generally pretty happy with the results.

Is it the type of papper that makes my shading messy?

Try resting your hand on a loose piece of paper and your hand won't smudge the lead. Alternatively you can buy a drawing glove that will help with that too.
Jono Hornby
That was a lot harder than I expected. I generally only use a one value clutch pencil so It was really hard to achieve the lighter values. I've just watched the demo and now I'm super excited to buy some new pencils and try this again.
Connor Wilson
You nailed it tbh
