Very nicely done @mguasch. Something that might help you with proportions moving forward is to simplify multiple segments into one shape starting out. For example, the segments of the tail become one long tube. It is easier to design your shapes this way -- 1 shape instead of trying to wrangle 6 shapes. You want to draw lightly during this stage so you can draw your CSI lines on top and have your underdrawing fade away. You can make some executive decisions during this phase of drawing also. For example, I cleaned up the legs on the far side of the scorpion for clarity -- because the reference image didn't make sense to me, I designed my own legs. Really nice job simplifying to CSI. This drawing is very clean!

You can always post and see if fellow learners can critique, especially if you have specific questions. There's no guarantee you'll get help, but could be a good way to document your journey.

Do you know if there an "official" (i.e. paid) way to get critique on assignments?
@mguasch
The journey begins. However, I do have a question if anyone knows: should we stop the course and draw for 14 days or do we do it alongside everything else?

Simplifying is hard 😅

Portrait are hard! You snail turned out pretty good. Simplifying a portrait to just CSI lines is an extra challenge. It’s great that you went for the challenge though. If you wanted to try again, start with the biggest shapes first, and then narrow it down to smaller marks as you go. I spent a moment picking out what i think the biggest shape might look like. I also included a demo that may be helpful. Good luck with your future drawings!

Why are you counting the ellipses?
@mguasch
My first attempt in a very very long journey
@mguasch
I am a beginner doing the fundamentals course and I see submissions were done back in 2023. The question is, when doing the exercises, do I still submit my attempts or do I just keep them to myself?
