They say that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. Well, the same can be said for my lines. Any tips?

Tip #1- go easy on yourself. I don't think your lines are bad. I like that you are experimenting with different sizes of ellipses too. I'm no drawing teacher but I'll give you a couple of things that have helped me. Whatever speed you are drawing these, slow it down a notch or two. Take a page and work on "ghosting" ellipses. I personally work on ghosting circles too. Use your whole arm and just work on ghosting those shapes with just a single pencil stroke. That practice will help you smooth out your ellipses or any line/shape in general. Keep practicing and don't stop practicing. You're doing great! 👍

I drew the first drawing before watching the demo, and I drew the ones after that after watching the demo.
Isaac Russell
So I missed the mark on the portrait so I paused the critiques and reworked the portrait with the challenge more in mind. The left eye is still off

the level 2 attempt. my first one is kinda weird, was not paying attention to proportions and likeness, tried to be more accurate on the second attempt. I'm still in need to watch the demos

Is this done digitally?

Hi everyone, I found this exercise really interesting and complex. I’ve never done any simplification on a pear or anything similar before, so this was a new experience for me. As you can see in the first picture, I didn't quite understand the assignment initially and ended up copying rather than simplifying. However, after watching Stan's demo, things became clearer. I tried again using what I learned and then a third time on a larger paper (see the last picture for the difference). I think I need to improve my shading and learn more about planes and how to represent them on paper. What do you think?

How long did it take you to draw these?
@overmoon
Hey peeps, I tried this level 2 portion out just to see how it would go as I am a total beginner but wanted to test my limits a bit, I will admit it was really tough but it was enjoyable for me. I did one myself and then I followed the video

How did you get such a huge difference?
@dannysixes
Here’s my pear. Honestly, the hardest part of this project is psychological. “What am I doing?” “You’re never going to be good at drawing.” “This is ridiculous, you’re not artistic.” These are the kinds of thoughts I had while working on the project. I’m going to do my best and keep trying. Even if I don’t get good at drawing, I owe it to myself to not listen to those kinds of thoughts and keep trying.

Did you do the level 2 assignment too?

Repeated my pear attempts after watching the demo. For the first pear, I think the lighter shadow is too light compared to the dark shadow. Same for the second. I didn't quite capture the slight tilt of the second pear in my attempt. As for the third pear, the shadows seem to blend together and lose clarity. Any other feedback is welcome! I'll probably retry the second pear after watching the pear critiques

Can someone please tell me what pencil he drew the dark half tone with?
Laurentia Guitteaud
For what I noted : He used for the dark first 2B then 4B and 6B then for the light he was back to HB
@briart720
Great video going step by step! My first pear, on the right, was not even a 1/4 finished… lol
