"Walk on a Sunday Afternoon" Oil on canvas. The painting is about my family who owns a cattle and sheep farm. Every Sunday we take the dogs for a walk around the farm. Usually, the basset hound smells something and wants to run after the scent, calling the other dog to follow, which is why we have to keep her on a leash. In summer, we often check the fields to see if the hay is dry enough for baling because successful bales are important to get the animals through the cold winter.

My story is based on the parable that Jesus spoke of about the lost sheep. The Shepard (God) had 100 sheep and one goes missing. He leaves the 99 sheep to search high and low for that one missing sheep. The shepherd finds the sheep and rejoices over it more than the 99 others that did not go astray. That is how God rejoices when a sinner returns to him. (Matthew 18:10-14)

Julia Kagawa The Iron Fey is the name of a series. I couldn't decide on a single book so I decided to make a cover for the whole series. I imagine it being on the boxset. I used gouache, pencil crayons, ink pen, and silver leaf.

I'm so excited about this challenge! I made a cover for the Book 'A Murder Most Unladylike' by Robin Stevens - I love children's book illustration and am personally not a big fan of the original covers, so this was very fun to do! I used a limited color palette - staying with cool greens and warm red/oranges as a contrast. The line work is done traditionally with pencil - colored in digitally, with a traditional gouache texture. the prompt was inspired by the Penguin Book Awards prompt - but I was not able to actually participate due to not living in the UK. I put a lot of work into this cover, so I'm very excited to be able to show it to people on here!
