this month prompt was such a fun one, so thank you so much for creating it! this was a great opportunity for me to draw a fanart of Howl's moving castle which I wanted to do for such a long time. It didn't turn out prefect, the room doesn't look as magical as I hoped it would and it was certainly a bad choice to do light text on top of one of the lightest parts in the drawing but I realized that only when I begun the coloring and didn't manage to change it. though I'm really happy with this piece overall because this was my first time using 3d as a starting point for a drawing and the perspective I think came out pretty good.

the perspective is so fun!!

Hello! I chose to do the cover of the second book of the Trixie Belden series, The Red Trailer Mystery. It was first published in 1950, but my favourite cover was the editions republished in the 60s, called cameo editions because of the cameos of Trixie in the upper left corner. Mary Stevens did the original interior illustrations, so I included her along with the author on the cover. Trixie Belden books are also published under the name Kathryn Kenny, but Julie Campbell wrote the first 6 books. I chose colours based on the first cameo edition, as they're some of the first colours I think of when I think of Trixie Belden. I always feel a part of the Bob Whites when reading these books. They make you feel at home. I chose to illustrate Trixie and Honey spotting the orchard that's a part of the Smith farm. The Smith Farm and their old apple orchard are very important to the solving of the mystery! I hope you enjoy my cover! It was such a wonderful learning experience, perfect for where I'm at in my journey as an artist. This is completely traditional by the way!

This is it, my all time favorite book cover illustrated. So many memories with the book and I always get my hands on this if I'm stuck with my art. Currently reading it to my youngest and getting inspired! :D

Hi! This is my submission for this challenge. It is a book cover for one of my favourite books "Persuasion" by Jane Austen. I was trying to capture the novel’s melancholic feeling of loneliness and regret.
magali franov
I think you definitely nailed the melancholic feeling! :)

I always wanted to see more illustrated covers on professional literature. Psychology is an especially good topic for creativity. Based on that I tried my hand at 'The Uncanny' by Sigmund Freud. Depicting a surreal scene in a realistic rendering, to keep the theme relevant. The initial drawing is done in graphite and coloured digitally. While I kept the typography clean and less creative as it is professional literature, and it needs some strict structure as a balance.

I really like the mysterious feeling the cover provokes!

I'm so excited about this challenge! I made a cover for the Book 'A Murder Most Unladylike' by Robin Stevens - I love children's book illustration and am personally not a big fan of the original covers, so this was very fun to do! I used a limited color palette - staying with cool greens and warm red/oranges as a contrast. The line work is done traditionally with pencil - colored in digitally, with a traditional gouache texture. the prompt was inspired by the Penguin Book Awards prompt - but I was not able to actually participate due to not living in the UK. I put a lot of work into this cover, so I'm very excited to be able to show it to people on here!
