My Color Survival Guide is available now! It will feature a selection of color theories and color principles that I use almost every day as a commercial artist. I've selected the things that work and are reliable, time and time again.

Hi. Before I get this course. I was wondering if it contains any section that explains how I could apply this in tandem with Color values. Would really appreciate if anyone can provide an answer.
@missinglee
My attempt at Chapter 1's complementary pallette exercise. Being limited to just 'two colours' allowed me to really think about the warmer/cooler relationships. I thought Marco's explanation of how he used a greater variety of less saturated purples vs a smaller variety of more saturated yellows very helpful as it got me thinking about value and contrast. I found it difficult to also build in readability using textures and having to resize my brush depending on where the feature I was painting (near or far away). After about an hour I believed my composition was 'readable at a distance' but the saturation was way off so I used an adjustment layer (saturation) to quickly mask off areas that were too saturated (mainly the purples) This exercise is easily one of the most beneficial tools I have learnt recently and I'm looking forward to continuing on through this course.

Amazing course, worth the price, very informative. Also please check out Marco's YouTube channel, it's a goldmine of knowledge

Hi Marco. I'm new to digital art and I'm thinking of buying some of your courses, namely your Digital Painting 1-3 series. My question is: is the course relevant to Corel Paint software, as that's the software program I'm using? Thanks for your time:)

hey, a quick tip on photo REF, the colors on a photo don't appear what think, since cameras have their own color capture, it tends to lower the colors when you capture it in person or online. is best to introduce colors like reds blues, or yellows depending on the scene so that it makes the painting more colorful, not too saturated or dull which you have, or you did but you were too attached to the REf which this mistake is most common.

I tried to paint some of the pictures from the course myself and I really like how the brushwork on the green monster turned out^^.

I also tried to color the temple. I went for a different color palette, blue (moon light) and oranges (dark colors). Although I like the aestetic I didn't get the moon light right. if anyone has any tipps, it would be really appreciated!

hey I'm a student at brainstorm school, and I planning to take this course anyways the experience I got in painting while in school, in order the moonlight appears more brighter make your surroundings Less brighter so that in the brighter areas pop more, in your gray scale it seems that your med tones and bright tones mash together thus in the color part it seems it doesn't pop the moonlight. quick tip thou, if you use a saturated dark red or dark red not too dark nor to light, it darkens it just don't go over board. and it work in different scenes, my teacher in brainstorm gave me that tip.

Thank you so much for this fantastic course! It was all I hoped for, condensed but so in depth it is going way further than most color infos I found until now. I have so much fun playing around with colors and all the new aspects you mentioned. Thank you :) (I commented on the last lesson, but it is probably more visible here, so I reposted, hope that is ok.)

This was a great Class on color. I've always been intimidated by painting in color from the start. now I'm feeling much more confident.

hey just to help here, im taking courses on brainstorm, and my experience of painting, i say that your colors are very too bright and too contrast. make sure to have a balance light areas and darks areas. also i don't if you use white to brighten your colors but use oranges and yellows to yellows are brighter in gray scale so use that. never use white to brighten something cuz it makes muddy and dull the colors.
@dudeunderscore
I just wanted to thank you Marco for making this course, it's helped me get over a rout i've been in the past few years with my work.
@dudeunderscore
actually, not just this course but your materials overall. Thank you.

Just finish the chapters uploaded so far, and it's fantastic! Definitely had to rewatch again during practice to digest the information a little more slow, but it's worth it. Can't wait for the rest of it! :D

I only saw the sample chapter that was released to announce this lesson, but it totally inspired me to try the color picker wiggle trick on this portrait study I just happened to be working on at the time. I really like the results I got.

Is the color wheel he is using available in Photoshop or is a plug-in or just a photo of a color wheel he is sampling from? I can't seem to find it, but I am a PS novice. The wheel that is available in my version of PS is a triangle inside of a the color circle, not a full wheel.
