If you're using the image I think you are for reference, the balance of weight is completely altered and shifted to the right. Yonni's weight is firmly on his left leg in many of the images in this pack, and your's is shifted to the right, as if his weight is equally on both legs. Make sure you take a close look at the source image. One thing to consider is to use the squares method of marking out a drawing to start to help with accuracy. You don't have to get lost in doing dozens or hundreds of squares, but even 20 large ones can really help you catch proportional issues early, get a good foundation, but let you then get more "freeform" if you choose to afterward.

When I watch this, I'm experiencing lots of backwards skips of about 1.5 to 2 seconds where the video acts like a scratched record. Is anyone else having this happen? Previous videos have had a slipping and video distortion that needed to be reloaded to correct. I know this isn't a huge issue, but it is distracting as it keeps happening.

On my end I had it happen just once

Hey Matthew, super late reply but in case you haven't figured it out already. The video is completely fine but I know what you're talking about with the backward skipping, it happens when the video is buffering and changing back and forth to different qualities to keep up. To fix this just turn your video quality off of 'auto' to something your wifi can handle and it'll stop doing the skips.

My first attempt at shading a full figure with this technique. I'm noticing that some of my foundational underlying lines that plot out the muscles are not as accurate as I would like, and those veins are....a challenge, esp when you make it one of the last things to work on and you want to wrap up. I'm thinking things feel a little....rubbery or overly smooth with some of the shading transitions. I'll have to figure out how to handle that as well.

This is overall very nice and you should be happy with it. There's a confidence in your lines that shows through. I'd suggest you work on expressing that confidence while being much more gently with placing your initial lines. That will likely give you the results your seeking. This will keep the form from feeling outlined and let it blend with the background, and allow some of the more subtle shadows be lighter and more realistic.

@Jon Neimeister I wanted to draw an issue to your attention as the class creator, not sure where to direct this issue. The class is now being subdivided into folders by subject, which can have some benefits. But the problem now is there's no way to follow the classes chronologically or in their earlier order. I wanted to go through a couple of them again, as well as download files for a trip I'm about to take. There's no numbering to them so I can't follow where I need to jump to in the folders list. Is there a way for a chronological order to the videos can be placed somewhere for student use? Sorry to bother you, but help would be greatly appreciated.

The imbedded video on this site, and the download, both have serious distortions, pixilating, delays, and artifacting that's really distracting. It actively makes it difficult to follow along in the lesson because the video will stick while Jon is talking and the viewer can't see what settings or controls are used. By the end of the video it's a severely jumbled mess. I'm hoping this was an rendering issue with the output file after editing, and hopefully a new pass can provide a better file for the viewers. If someone could look into this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about that! Fixing it now.

If this issue is already known, sorry, but just incase I'll tag: @Sean Ramsey @Jon Neimeister thanks!

This was the best description of Photoshop, and brush engines in general, that I've seen. It's really helped me understand the more subtle choices/setting with much better control than I had before.

Dissolve can be really useful to make quick 5 o'clock shadow. Use a textured brush in a blue to lay down the pattern of hair and then blur the layer to make it blend into the skin.

Well, I think the ones in the Proko store are good. If you don't like these, there's Grafit Studios, Satine Zillah, many on Cubebrush and Art Station...

Your work is beautiful. I think, especially in this case, that the detail in the background detracts from the focus. I like the brighter surface, but less detail like the first draft. I'd suggest a medium between them with suggested texture and leave it at that unless there's a particular need. Always enjoy your work.

Thanks Matthew! That's where it gets tricky for me in where to find balance with detail. I did struggle with the background on this as I kept finding it looked like low-res videogame texture rather than simplified reality. Backgrounds are hard, maybe time for some landscape practice...
