Learn how to construct and place facial features, starting with the eye. Focusing on their structure, surrounding fat, and key features like the canthal ligament and tarsus plates. Considering the eye's asymmetry and how fat distribution affects its appearance, especially with age.

I believe there's an video editing mistake at 17:52 when you started talking about twisting ribbon, you drew that twisting plane offscreen.

I'm just starting to watch the lesson. I'm really looking forward to it because I like Michael's method of teaching. I generally struggle with face construction at this point with other teachers. One question I do have and it may be addressed in upcoming videos is when drawing traditionally how do I deal with all of the lines that I have laid in so far. It seems like it will be a challenge to reduce/lighten them? If anyone who has taken this course has suggestions please let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

I generally just try to draw them lighter so they get lost once I go in with the actual information I want to communicate, buuut you could use a blending stump to get rid of them and still maintain some sort of underdrawing to use as a guide. Or good ol' tracing paper, I suppose.

I already had this sketch in my sketch book and went and tried to redo the shading according to the shapes in the eye video. I got a bit stumped on the fat at the bottom part of the “tire”around the eye, not sure how visible to make it but I’m guessing it depends on the person.

I practiced from the book and Pinterest. I was trying to compare how drawing from reference from construction lines in the book vs drawing from direct photo reference from Pinterest vs drawing from imagination. The place I'm getting stuck at is drawing in perspective. I have been able to figure out how to construct the various angles of upward downward and sideways but I still don't feel like I "got it". If I were to draw it in a different art style or from a lens distortion perspective or with more real life dynamism, I wouldn't be able to construct it.

Are the upper eye lids on the same level as the bottom of the keystone?
Jane Monroe
Yes thank you so much I always struggle with eyes!
@lucastoonz86
so I wanted to focus on the eye topography for these, one thing I notice is my right eyes are smaller and out of perspective with the other,I will try to pay more attention to this.
