I like my compass but it does damage the paper. I used 22.5 degree increments on top and 15 degree increments on bottom.
Marshall Vandruff
You went all out. You also paid the price for the damage to the paper. Battle wounds to impress those who weren't there.

I just liked this page, did these with ballpoint on copy paper so the scans came out funny

Hello! Just reporting that the subtitles seem to be broken! Also I got a question, when I tried to make Marshall's weights, I stumbled upon this part that I'm stuck at, how do you find these square faces on the surface and their sizes?
@lucastoonz86
Where the corners meet the x pattern, that’s the insertion point you can make it any size you wish and as long as all lines are parallel it should work out
@lucastoonz86
Hello, not sure if I’ll make the deadline so I’ll submit what I have, the scans came out super light this is good to know for next time.
@lucastoonz86
Hello, not sure if I’m gonna take this any farther but here’s a little stream study.
Daniela
Hi, thank you for the lesson! A lot of information packed really tightly I have a small question, I tried to figure out a little bit one of Hans Verdeman's drawings, the one point perspective. I went very wrong about it at first and then I noticed that the key seems to be the gird on the ground, while doing the one point perspective grid with equal horizontal length is fine, I can't seem to figure out how the receding length distances got decided but it seems to be based on these green lines I highlighted. So may I ask how the green lines are called and how are they decided? I noticed that they connect one pillar to another (ex A to C) but that seems very arbitrary on it's own
@lucastoonz86
I do believe it’s just a form of griding out the ground plane but I could be wrong
@lucastoonz86
hello, feels messy and disproportionate but in time I should get a grasp also I realized the portraits aren’t part of the lesson but I used his approach so I felt compelled to share, lots of miles to go.

That's the way to do it, Lucas!
@lucastoonz86
This was great! Especially that first demonstration, that pose was tough to figure out

Apprentice here, just watched the first lesson and I'm really excited to get started! Will be drawing along later when I get more time however I don't have charcoal and have never used it before since I'm just starting out. Is it essential to work with charcoal to get the most out of this course? I'm comfortable with graphite pencil and mostly work with that for now but also trying to learn some other mediums namely ink, wash and gouache.
@lucastoonz86
I think the tools he uses are great! But having the charcoal Pencil show up broken is real and quite sad lol . If you do use graphite I would still recommend practicing making marks with the overhand grip. In short if you don’t have access too specific tools improvise until you do it’s still practice 👍
@lucastoonz86
is Today the lucky day! Excited for this one all though I’m lacking a few materials, I’m going to start in anyways!

Good luck, Lucas!
