Asked for help
Man, is this hard! Not easy to switch my head out of the contour mode and first time handling charcoal pencil with overhand grip.
@sjors
Today marks the last day of the "challenge" I'll definitely keep going to draw everyday! Today I drew some bottles in my kitchen and Stromboli from Pinocchio.

Nice work!

I don't post all my daily drawings here normally, but today, on day 12, I feel like things start to click. The stuff I learned and practiced so far in the course is really coming together. I drew my wooden friend and was positively surprised by how he turned out.

This is a great daily exercise. The first two pictures are from day one, the last is the second day I did this exercise. I am surprising myself with the progress I am making already.

Hi there! I have filled many sheets of paper with just lines, but I can't seem to get the hang of tapering the start of a stroke. Getting the end tapered is not a problem. I have practiced the "landing and take off" method but somehow I keep getting an abrupt "landing". Does anyone have any tips on getting this part smoother? Thank you!

Those lines are pretty nice already. I found that when I relax more and start moving my pencil before putting it on the paper it start tapering. Also, I think of my pencil as feeling like a brush and that works pretty well too. So relax and don't push the pencil down, let it fall naturally on the paper, as if it just happens to be there while you're moving.

I did this project two times; one where I followed along with the instructions and one by myself. But that lead me to copy Stan's work for a bit and I rushed and didn't measure enough. I also never used Photoshop, so maybe I will overlay my work for future practice but I didn't for this one. That being said, I don't think I did too shabby for someone who picked his pencil up just a week ago.

Nice work! I overlaid it just to check it out, I think it's a very useful tool to utilize as you're learning. Keep it up :)

I had a hard time actually finding simple shapes that would make sense. Especially on the pictures I chose myself.

I did 2 studies of Glen Keane's Tarzan and Ariel. Almost gave up on Ariel, but I am positively surprised by how she turned out.

Redid VR-girl as a looser sketch after watching the demo. When I drew her the first time I forgot to just sketch. I also feel a little constrained by the size of my sketchbook, the next one will be bigger.
