My second attempt at the line master study’s.
I would say I have improved since my previous attempt and I also recognise my progress, although I am still not satisfied with my results.
I invested in some news print and conte 1710 charcoal pencils a few days ago but the majority of my drawings are in graphite.
I still feel way more comfortable with graphite and have had a rough start with the charcoal pencils.
A critique I would give myself is to work on how much pressure I apply to my pencil, ESPECIALLY with the charcoal pencils.
Compared to the reference (last drawing) my lines are on average to dark and also less confident.
Nonetheless I improved, and will definitely stay at this project a bit longer.
critiques are more than welcome.

Really nice work! Charcoal takes some adjustment! I'm seeing some Mario Mushrooms bleeding through from other pages so you're definitely on the right track! Keep up the good work!

Im looking forward on doing more of these, I followed along with stans demo of the skull bye Jeff watts and decided to study one of stans gesture drawings in the shape portion of the course.
The most frequent complication I’ve been running into is executing those fine, crisp, sharp lines Stan and Jeff are able to obtain with the overhand grip.
I assume this is caused due to a lack of confidence with my lines, if I commit there’s essentially no going back ( regarding crisp lines) and if I try to reconstruct or go over the line it impairs the crispness of the line.
Critiques are more than welcome.

I attempted working on overlapping forms more specifically: more clearly separating forms from one another and defining what objects are closer to the viewer.
I ran out of space on my page so I didn’t include everything displayed in the reference.
Critiques are more than welcome.

I attempted to follow along with Stans demo (organising line weight bye Depth and form)
and tried implementing the concepts and techniques I picked up on with other references.
It was difficult to imitate Stans overhand hand positioning since he is right handed and I am left.
If I’m honest I’m not to happy with how these turned out, although they are an improvement compared to my last attempt.
I’m unsure if I managed to effectively convey depth and form in my own attempts.
critiques are more than welcome.

I tried applying the combining line weight video to this project.
I enjoyed how Stan distributed and combined his line weight in the video, but I have been struggling exploring new amalgamations.
Does anyone else know another process wich effectively combines line weights?
critiques are more than welcome.

Im not to content with how this turned out.
I watched the Demo beforehand so I was still aware of some of the decisions Stan made.
I tried using the overhand grip. Not sure if that was a good decision but il keep practicing nevertheless.
Regarding my line quality it could be much better. I’m unsure if I managed to effectively convey depth and form line weight.
critiques are more than welcome.

This is my second attempt of the project- organising line weight.
I don’t have much to add to my rhinos.
I watched the Depth and from demo and Stan was using a charcoal pencil which caught my interest.
Any recommendations on how to get started with charcoal or maybe what brands to look at?

I tried drawing the big primary forms first before moving on, I had some trouble with cross contours and I also feel like I messed up the perspective of the legs in some of these which makes the drawing look off or awry.
I see someone else had also decided to draw leopard geckos, always cool to see how other people draw, Interpret and create there own ideas using the same inspirations and reference photos as yourself.
I really like what you did with this. Your leopard geckos are much more expressive than mine. I also like the one where you pushed increasing headsize relative to the rest of the body, which is more in line with Stan's approach in the demo video.

I should probably learn how to stick to a framework when drawing.
Starting with my big shapes and working my way down to the details.
I assume if apply this it would help me familiarise myself with the subjects forms and be able to construct and manipulate those forms more freely and efficiently.
critiques are more than welcome.

I have been having trouble moving on from projects ever since I started this course. I always seem to find a reason not to move on or something I could improve on.
When do I know I’m ready to move on to the next project and what should my goal be.
Should I strive for perfection and try to apply the concepts mentioned until they become effortless and intuitive or should I practice just enough so I could say I got some valuable information out of the project which helped me improve. Critiques or more than welcome.

Drawing from imagination is like any skill and takes consistent practice for it to become second nature. You're in it for the long haul if you want to master it. You'd be here forever if you didn't move on, and especially in these early lessons I think as long as you have a decent understanding of the concepts it's good to keep going. This lesson is meant as an introduction to drawing from imagination -- you will learn techniques that will help you be more successful with this project, and you can always come back and revisit this and other lessons later, which I encourage you to do. There will never not be places to improve so don't let that get you stuck for too long.
That being said these are great! You clearly have a great deal of skill when it comes to drawing. I say let the reins loose a bit on the reference images and see what you can come up with, even if it doesn't look as good as your drawings from reference look. I like where you're going with your lizard drawings here!
