I chose Dave Malan. I found this pretty hard. The lines were so natural, I didn't know what the reference was, so had a hard time understanding where they came from. My lines felt a lot like they were copied, I didn't understand the rhythms. Also, I got very impatient drawing these for some reason! There was a lot of detail which made me anxious thinking about how long it was gonna take. Took 20mins each I'd say so wasn't that bad but still, didn't enjoy it as much as I could've, was a real struggle.

So you feel like you got Imposter syndrome, huh? It is natural that at this stage you feel like you have copied it and you dont feel comfortable with drawing somebody else's work. But you need to atleast have a solid base , that you can operate from and fall back on. So one advice is that you do the exercise and also plenty of life drawing

My portrait and the pear exercise! The first pear was before watching the demo. Definitely took a lot more effort than I expected, gonna practice breaking things down more now with the steps given in the demo. Any advice is appreciated! :)

I advise to atleast make it again so that you get confident

Here's my master study of Kentaro Miura. I know it wasn't the main focus of the exercise, but I still noted how I really struggled with proportions. Various line weight, some really thin lines, some very bold lines. To get those white lines in the hair, he must have been using ink on a clayboard or have made them digitally, right ? I wan't to do some more master studies of the same artist and of some others, but I need to fasten my pace because this one took me a long time.

Dont rush it. right now you are exactly where you need to be on your art journey, and hurrying it up, may spoil the progress that you have started with. Enjoy it , live a little when you draw it
