I chose Dave Malan. I found this pretty hard. The lines were so natural, I didn't know what the reference was, so had a hard time understanding where they came from. My lines felt a lot like they were copied, I didn't understand the rhythms. Also, I got very impatient drawing these for some reason! There was a lot of detail which made me anxious thinking about how long it was gonna take. Took 20mins each I'd say so wasn't that bad but still, didn't enjoy it as much as I could've, was a real struggle.

I'd recommend if you are feeling frustrated with a drawing, to come back to it later when you are feeling better. With master studies, you can learn a lot from them especially when you are going slow and thinking about why each mark was made. An impatiently made drawing is going to speak that to the viewer.

So you feel like you got Imposter syndrome, huh? It is natural that at this stage you feel like you have copied it and you dont feel comfortable with drawing somebody else's work. But you need to atleast have a solid base , that you can operate from and fall back on. So one advice is that you do the exercise and also plenty of life drawing

Tried to make it a little interesting by adding a black pen I had lying around for the darkest value. Don't love it, but was fun playing around with that!

I like the experimentation! I see that you are using the ink for both the dark shadow beneath the pear and to indicate the bruising on the skin of the pear. That confuses my eye a bit, because without the reference, I would read those marks as being very dark shadows on the skin of the pear rather than a difference in color value. I think you should keep playing with it because it is a cool idea!
