Here's my master study of Kentaro Miura. I know it wasn't the main focus of the exercise, but I still noted how I really struggled with proportions. Various line weight, some really thin lines, some very bold lines. To get those white lines in the hair, he must have been using ink on a clayboard or have made them digitally, right ? I wan't to do some more master studies of the same artist and of some others, but I need to fasten my pace because this one took me a long time.

Dont rush it. right now you are exactly where you need to be on your art journey, and hurrying it up, may spoil the progress that you have started with. Enjoy it , live a little when you draw it

Love your reflections on this exercise. Speed will come with practice so make sure you don't rush it. Go at the speed of your thoughts and enjoy the process! Good luck :)

Here's my assignment with some pictures I took while it was in progress. I've got some proportions that are off, notably the eyes, but I felt I was too far in the shading process when I realized it and just thought I'd do better next time.
