Did second penguin after watching demo/critique. Feel like I need to loosen up a bit more. I really like the more sketchy look and don’t really think mine have that.

Some mushrooms and shading practice. Really trying to slow down a bit, be mindful of using my whole arm and get a smooth consistent shape. Not easy!

The first snail and first left boot I did before watching the demo. Got a bit overwhelmed with the laces and wanted to do draw the right one as a comparison after watching. I think they look decent proportionally but I definitely wasn’t doing as confident lines as I’d like to so the first right boot was that attempt. I wanted to put in a little more time here and not try to move on too quickly so I decided to draw them bigger using a whole page for each to see if that would help my lines. For the second two the proportions definitely suffered but I was mainly focusing on confident lines even though it may not look like. They were confidently drawn, just not executed. Lol Gotta get my hand/arm more trained.

Before and after I watched the demo. The shading was a bit overwhelming. I think it's a bit messy. I would love honest critique and feedback.
That looks like a huge improvement to me! Much clearer definition of shapes and values. With shading I’ve been practicing circles along with the Mario mushrooms and trying to get a smooth shading gradation across the circle. Maybe try to get some small circles 1 solid value all the way across? I used the side of my pencil shading my pear but been practicing shading with the tip. I find if I slow down and move slowly across the circle halfway overlapping each line keeping even pressure I don’t get many lines or gaps. Hope that helps!

Before and after demo. I liked going through the step by step - gave me a bit more direction.
Definitely looks like your simplification, shape and proportions improved on the second one! I like the deeper blacks in the first one for more contrast and value range.

Completed before watching demo except for background shading which I planned to do anyway but didn’t realize how much that would improve the light halftones from the blank white paper around it and the idea of ending it before the stem made sense so it wouldn’t get lost in the same tone. To do over, I would’ve shaded with the tip of the pencil instead of the side to get more use to that and get a more angular look like in the demo. Also, I shaded the strip inside of the C shaped gap on the middle left as a light shadow instead of a dark halftone but when I squint that’s the way it appeared to me. Please let me know your thoughts!
