Here’s my attempt at line quality…

My attempt at drawing some animals.

Hi there! I think something that can help is to think about the basic shapes that make up the subject, helping inform the preliminary searching lines for your sketch. The course has a section that goes further into this, but you can start applying it here with a focus on linework. For example, the mouse can be broken down into a simple oval for the body and an oval for the head. Lightly sketching these major shapes in first will allow for cohesiveness and flow throughout your lines as you start adding in more details, since they act as unifying "big picture" guide and free you up from narrowing into a single stroke at a time.

I attempted to merge a frog with a hamster…

Here’s my attempt…I don’t know if I was supposed to do more.
@karlyn
I connected the ends with another stroke to make it look like one long stroke. It seems that I could get the tapper part at the ends of my strokes and not the beginning. Guess I’ll have to practice this stroke more…

I have the same thing! It has been a while since you posted this, so did you find a way to practice the taper at the beginning of your stroke as well? It would be great to hear your experience. Thank you! Wendy

Here’s my attempt after watching the demo. It’s a little large however I think it’s close to portions of the snail…
@karlyn
Here’s my attempt at the snail before watching the demo and it seems that I couldn’t get the portions right. I’ll give it another go after I watch the video.

Here’s my attempt at the warmup. I kept squeezing the pencil too tight to vary the pressure which caused my hand to cramp however I think I got the hang of it near the end. It seems that I couldn’t get the eyes the right size though. I pulled through to fill the page and didn’t quit so that’s good. I might try this again not sure now.
