I had a fun time doing this assignment! It felt cool to take boxes and apply them to creating 3D body parts. The first three are done before watching the demo. 4th is after watching. Critiques welcome!

Hi all! I was really excited for this one, as drawing people is one of my main goals with taking this course. I would love your feedback on these. I think #4 is my best one, and I think this might be because it's from a straight on pose, where the concept of connecting the legs/hips/torso is more easily applicable.

These are all great! I think the first one is my favorite.

This is my first time doing anything like this, so I picked the musketeer for my project. I think I made my portrait's face a little too wide, but overall I'm proud of myself.

Here's my version of the "Hierarchy of Importance Method". I wasn't able to upload a "shadows and light" version, since my printer stopped working. :(

I feel like my lines are very much in between confident/long, and short/pecky. Drawing longer, confident lines is something I'll definitely have to keep in mind.

I think your lines look great. I looks like you're using light searching lines and darkening the ones that you feel good about. Honing this skill will take lots of practice, but you got it!

Here are my mushrooms! I may have outlined one before I realized we weren't supposed to do that haha. So I ended up using that as a reference for which parts of the ellipses should be darker and lighter. I'm surprised by how fun this exercise made drawing ellipses!

Hey all! I've attached a photo of my drawing (before demo), and my reference. I think my proportions are pretty good, but I think I could improve with having my shadows be more defined from the lighter values. Would love to hear your feedback!
Rachel Dawn Owens
You’re correct! I think it would give the pear more form if the shadow values were darker. Maybe try darker pencils if you can. I really like how you turned the shading around the different planes of the pear! That’s a really great thing to do. It shows that you’re thinking about the 3d forms of the pear. Nice work! Keep at it!
