1: Before Demo or Critique, 2: After Demo, 3: After Critique. This one was fun and interesting but also a bit of a struggle in that I feel like I was actually becoming less confident with my process of making boxes over time. Not sure if its because im trying too hard to stick to the blobs, or if its just hard for me to imagine orientations for the boxes in the first place or what. Definitely going to keep practicing these, but any feedback/critique for these ones would be appreciated!

I realize the way I was connecting the different pieces doesn't really make sense, I was focusing on just drawing boxes more than I was focusing on making a hand make sense I guess. Getting those really harshly foreshortened edges is tough, I either don't make it foreshortened enough or it ends up looking distractingly distorted. Any feedback/critique appreciated!

I see what you mean -- great job with your self-critique. I think next time you will see a lot of improvement. What sticks out to me the most is the overlapping of the second set of the knuckles in your drawing -- I would have the lower segment of the finger underneath the upper segment like I have here. I would also taper the fingertip a bit more. Overall great job, you’re on the right track!

Things are so much more enjoyable when using intuition and neighboring lines to inform your convergences, rather than feeling forced to plot out points and lines. I think im going to try taking things a little slower and just practice getting myself to comfortably orient boxes like these before moving onto more projects.
@faegbc
Just tried to do these intuitively without much in the way of planning, not sure if I really got it. Might try to do more with more structure from the faces but that is definitely intimidating. Any critique is appreciated.

Attempt with the grid to help. Definitely makes things easier, but i'd like to be more confident with not using it before moving on so im going to try some more. Any feedback welcome.

It was a little painful how this project revealed just how little my line quality has improved, but it is what it is. This one is a bit simplistic maybe, I want to try a few more after watching the demo/critique.
@faegbc
Some attempts today after having watched the demos and critiques yesterday, took me around an hour and a half for these. I think my first attempts before watching were a little too focused on the literal lines and with making things make sense in my own head, with these I just tried to be quicker, and more focused on the "flow," of things in a more general sense. I think as a result they look sloppier, but also a bit more dynamic? Hard to say. There are definitely some parts I find consistently difficult, like putting in the deltoid in a way that doesn't make things feel segmented like lego people.

Attempts before watching demo and critique, really interesting and fun but really challenging too, not really sure im getting anywhere on my own which is why im gonna do the rest of the zip after the demo. Im a beginner, so any feedback is welcome.

You're definitely on the right track! I can tell you are understanding and applying the concept of gesture lines. Keep going!
@faegbc
Post critique/demo attempts, I tried to be sketchier and focus less on drawing "seals." I can definitely feel how important this is and I wanna get it down, any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

I know it probably looks like the polar opposite, but I genuinely am trying really hard on this assignment. This has been more exhausting for me than the portrait was, for whatever reason. Its like I can understand and be really engaged with the lesson and theory, but actually applying such a simple thing is just a herculean task for me, makes me feel like an idiot :( Sorry, anyways, I plan on finishing the rest of the zip file tomorrow because just these pages took me all day on and off. Any advice would be very much appreciated, I feel lost and down.
