Attempts #1-2 before demo, #3-4 after demo. I feel like I'm understanding the perspective and minor axis, but as soon as i place a major axis and try to create the ellipse all semblance of perspective disappears. Trying to figure out what exactly the disconnect is, on to the critiques!

Love the vehicle choices and shifting the perspective from the originals!

First two. First one is much cleaner than the second one. I feel like I'm starting to understand the perspective of each individual box better and better, but the proportions are all messed up so they don't look very good overall. Oh well I suppose that'll come with time.

It took awhile to see the boxes in the hand. I found it really helped starting with a single plane, then figure out the angle needed to project it into a cube.

Really love the shifted perspective on #1, cool choice and great execution!

First four attempts pre-demo. Sort of level 1.5, just for fun.

Did #1-4 this afternoon. Some angle and proportion issues, but I'm not upset about how most of them turned out (her left arm in #2 kind of ruins it). Gotta work on avoiding symmetry in the arms in the future.

Watched the Demo throughout the week and continued to do more. Going to move on to the next project but keep coming back to these.

I tried the hand and the character a dozen times and I'm *really* not getting it. I'm struggling really hard to draw what I see. But here, for what it's worth, is a shot at the penguin. If you can tell me where I'm going wrong, please do!

It helped me a lot to try to limit the number of strokes I allowed myself to use to get rid of the scratchy/messy feeling. Still something I'm working through as well, but ghosting in a line a few times before putting it down, and starting light before committing to darker lines have both been helpful for me!

Started on the muskateer guy, but I didn't really like the image so I decided to swap to one I found. AFter I finished I matched it up on procreate and I could see that my bigger shapes were a lot more accurate than my placement of the features. The overall head/hair shape is good, the neck is correct proportionally, just slightly too far to the left, but the eyes, nose, and mouth are all wildly misplaced. Definitely the best face I've drawn so far though, so I'll take it as a good exercise and a step forward.

Looks very clean. The head in the photograph has a very slight tilt to the left, while in your drawing the head feels almost tilted in the other direction. Maybe the nose needs to be a bit wider. The nostrils in the photo align with the corners of the eyes. Overall, it‘s definitely a good attempt.

Line Master Study from Claire Wendling. Went in focusing on the girl instead of the lizard, and then gave up real hard on the lizard the further I went into it haha. Pretty happy with how she turned out despite the confusion of the claws around her. Very interesting looking at how Claire uses sharper and softer lines of similar values.

Glen Keane studies after watching the demos. His line quality felt much more expressive, but also much harder to capture. Not entirely sure how he's managing to get such large shifts between thick and thin on a single stroke with graphite!!

Didn't leave enough room for the full cast shadow. Excited to get started. Would love feedback if anyone is still looking at these older projects!

I agree with Colin. You did a nice job of simplifying the pear. I like that you added a slightly darker value on the right side in spots. Keep working on creating a crisp edge.
Colin Dunphy
I think its a great start! I have a couple of notes for next time, I think you've simplified the shapes very well, but you've lost some of the clean edges. I would suggest that you clearly define where one value ends and another begins by sharpening the edges of the shapes up a bit, but try to match the value of the shading inside the shape, that way you won't have mismatched outlines around them like you have with the highlights.
