Fell out of drawing for a while (whoops), but jumped back in and did some more of these. I think they got better as I went at least. Snuck in few comic book gestures too just to keep it fun. New year resolution: get back to drawing!

Here’s my first batch of seals. I think the top left of the first picture and bottom of the second picture show gesture pretty well. The others look more stiff to me.
To me these seals look like cut out shapes. Not very dynamic in my opinion. I think it might be your line weight. I'd recommend you to make your lines loose and draw through form.

Eyeballing was more difficult than measuring everything, especially when the sizes of the reference and the paper were very different. The reference was displayed on my 13-inch laptop computer, and I used 14 x 17 paper. Although I tried to focus on the proportions rather than the actual size and length when I eyeballed, my drawing tended to be pulled toward smaller sizes, which made me very confused, and I kept correcting the sizes. I need to do more eyeballing practice!

Looking at the overlay, I made the head way too narrow. One interesting thing is I originally measured the eyes, but they looked really big to me, so I made them smaller. But looking at the overlay, I think I should have trusted my initial measurements!
Feel like I did a decent job on the larger shapes, but the facial features are off. The left eye should be smaller than the right. I’ve got them too similar.

More practicing simplifying. It was difficult to simplify the monkey. I ended up just tracing the outlines for some complex shapes. I am not sure if it was a right way of simplifying.
