I really enjoyed this lesson! I am struggling a bit to place the light, especially if the shapes are not flowing in the same direction, and some intersections show. All is done with a mechanical pencil, I have to buy the rest of materials.

Super cool!
Heres something that might help you out. Try imagining a light bulb hanging above your subject. Form all of the shadow shapes out from that.
My drawing is overly simplified to exaggerate the idea.
Try to consolidate the bumps and details to the boundary of the light and shadow areas.
I really like the style of your drawing. Keep it up!
Really enjoyed this exercise and course, thank you Steven ! Here I struggled with the blending stump and getting finer lines
I dont have al the materials so i had to blend with my finger and couldnt make the fancy details with eraser. Feedback from anyone would be very appreciated!
I played a bit around after finally watching the course. Thanks a lot. Probably the most helpful course I have ever watched

Brilliant course, thank you! Had fun doing this lesson. I’m about to try doing my own versions. Any tips would be appreciated.
Not tried the 2 arms demo yet, put been practicing and came up with this humanoid spiders leg. Would love feedback if anyone has the time. Loving this course. Loving it!
Hello! I like it a lot. I think the little lower portion of the leg should receive less light than the other parts (because its incidence angle is elevated) an there are some parts where the stroke of the pencil is very noticeable. Nice muscles!
My first attempts. Top one is the 1st try, lower one second try. Any feedback would be very welcome.
I like the blending in the the light/shadow part between the 2 drawings! Smoothyyy
Hey, Steven!
What is that pen-like eraser called? It's hard for me to find out in the online store where I am from: Singapore.
The brand you're using is Mono Zero, but what is it technically called?
Thanks, Boss!
Decided to try it.
I have a big question: I feel like I take a long time to try to figure out how to shade the forms. I get really really nervous and I don't know why. I haven't really done this before. Is it something that gets better with time?
Edit: I added an updated piece cause I felt I overdid the gray using a conte stick.
I don't know what exactly what you need to improve. I would first learn the science of how light and shadows work. Then draw a lot from life and learn from observation. The last step would be to shade from imagination. From your current drawing it is a bit unclear where the light source is coming from. Attached is my drawing from imagination. I am still learning too.
I had an attempt at the tentacle and then drawing my own. I got carried away and went way too big for my first go. I made a lot of mistakes along the way but it was fun to see it come together.
