Self taught and been drawing for about 17 years. But I have huge gaps in my learning and abilities. Proko, is helping me sort that out.

Not tried the 2 arms demo yet, put been practicing and came up with this humanoid spiders leg. Would love feedback if anyone has the time. Loving this course. Loving it!

Hello! I like it a lot. I think the little lower portion of the leg should receive less light than the other parts (because its incidence angle is elevated) an there are some parts where the stroke of the pencil is very noticeable. Nice muscles!

My first attempts. Top one is the 1st try, lower one second try. Any feedback would be very welcome.

I like the blending in the the light/shadow part between the 2 drawings! Smoothyyy

Asked for help
Hello all, here are some recent 30-second and 2-minute quick sketches from today after practicing them for the past few weeks. I'm finding it difficult to analyze what I did right when a gesture seems to turn out well (e.g. bottom-middle of the first page) as well as how to see exactly where the mistakes are when a gesture feels "off" (like page 3, #2). I feel this is especially true when it comes to the 2-minute poses since there are more lines being used. I feel like I understand the concepts on a theoretical level, but it feels like I'm still guessing when it comes to putting them into practice, so any advice/criticism is appreciated!

I rewatched Stans videos again earlier today. It is a good thing to do, as you forget do much of his advice and guidance. Also, pay a lot of attention to his movements and ghost lines. They flow beautifully. I have slowed down today to try that approach before going back to timed poses.

Progress on my gesture drawings. These are untimed. I have been practicing ghost lines, trying to see and follow the flows of movement in the poses before making any marks. So I have slowed down whilst I get to grips with it. I would really appreciate anyone who would like to give me any comments, hints and tips to help me improve. I am wondering if I should start The Bean and work in conjunction with my gesture drawings?
Irene Walker
I have been practicing the gesture exercises. With these drawings however, I am attempting to use what I have learnt so far into expressive figurative drawings. Both with the exercises and these drawings, I sometimes get it quite well and other times lose my way. But that is learning and practice. I haven't yet moved onto the Bean as I am trying to get a bit more consistent with gesture before moving on. All feedback very welcome.

This is where I am after about 200 drawings so a long way to go. Still I am getting better. My first attempts were terrible! These are not too bad, I can see my progress and I have improved. Sorry... not posting my first attempts, so you will just have to believe me. Any feedback/hints/tips would be most welcome indeed. 30seconds, 1minute and 2minute poses.

This looks really good Irene! I can see you are thinking about the gesture and flow and utilizing the CSI lines. Hope you don't mind me drawing some notes on your images. You did so well and there are a couple of places I think the flow of the pose could be helped along as well. Look for ways to push the flow by avoiding symmetry in the contour of the limbs like the legs for example. Symmetry stops the flow whereas asymmetry helps it. In the attached image I drew over these areas in red to show what I mean. I hope it makes sense and helps. You are rocking it! The last drawing in the image I attached here looks so good! I especially like how you drew the gesture of the bent arm in front. Beautiful.
