Day 4 - Head Layins - 12 Days of Proko
11mo
Do 25-minute full-page HEAD layins, focusing on proportions, structure, and capturing the likeness. Just like figure layins in Day 1, don’t get caught up in details. It's not about finishing drawings fast; it's about getting good at starting a drawing by practicing several starts in one session. This helps you get better at the initial setup phase for more detailed work.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Go to https://proko.com/timer, select the Day 4 reference pack, choose the quantity and duration in the right sidebar, and start the session!
When you’re done, share your head layins here in this thread for a chance to win some prizes.
PRIZES:
1 The Block In Course
1 Portrait Drawing Fundamentals Course
3 Portraits and Expressions Reference Bundle
2 Proko Skulls
LIVESTREAM:

Drew on Tue, but it took a long to polish because of the tough week, dunno if it's okay, but I'd like to post anyway! It was a real challenge for me because as the animal artist I draw people quite rarely. I owe great part of my skills in that to the free part of the Proko portrait course, actually :) I enjoy exploring the topic and learning stuff about drawing human even though for now I'm not good enough to do it part of my job. So it was a great opportunity to practice (I really need to do it more often man), and references are amazing as well!
45min study block- in, will do more! I'm trying to improve
_Feel free to critique
My layins are mostly me trying to get the skull shape and using a lot of straight lines. Here are some twenties.
I love the timer Stephen Bauman used and trying these with him. It was a totally new experience as I take forever to finish anything. On average I work at about 2 hours a square inch. I needed this! So thank you!
Asked for help
Hi This is my drawing for Day 4 of the 12 days of Christmas Challenge. It’s hard to get everything right in 25 mins. I took a bit longer. Cheers.

This is really hard, I'm going to practice more and watch Stan's video again and practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, practice, pencil and charcoal on newsprint paper
