OMG, “I’ll get you a new cat’ 🤣🤣
I love the idea of telling a story though a pose. It seems so obvious, but not at the same time. Sometimes I really need something explained to me like I’m a toddler, and this is exactly what I needed.

Well…these gestures made me want to throw my sketchbook across the room :) Don’t know if I’m getting the gesture or if I’m making it too outlined. Hopeful that with more practice they will feel less frustrating and more fun to do!

I definitely found the drawing from imagination so much harder than reference. I even tried using a reference but imagining a different angle, and oh boy that was so much harder. I tried to not overthink it too much. Will definitely be practicing that skill.
I found the artist names that I could, but the big studio names are a bit more difficult to find specifics. So if I am wrong, I am sorry.

My family and I have been so sick this last week and half, so I didn’t have the time I was hoping for to work on my project. However, it was super important to me to have something to turn in on time. I will continue working on proportions, realistic and stylized.

I feel like I kinda understand, but also not. I’m having a difficult time separating things in my mind, like shapes vs contour. I think I’m focusing too much on contour, but I tried to think about the shapes while I was drawing.

I definitely spent way too much time trying to get mine accurate. And in the end they weren’t very accurate anyway. I’ll try again focusing on more confident lines and less about the accuracy. I am looking forward to those exercises, I struggle with drawing what I actually see.
Rachel I am experiencing the same end result of my meticulous efforts for accuracy—it was more fun to just simplify for an impression. I really love expression but often accuracy becomes the sacrifice for this goal. I keep trying to do both but maybe I shouldn’t agonize over the proportions so much. I agree it takes twice as long. Finding the sweet spot is a good goal for me at this point. Stan promises future lessons will offer more techniques for accuracy.

Here's my level 1 snail. I think I'm taking too long and calculating too much. I spent some time just ghosting and redrawing the lines to build more confidence.
I'm worried I'm taking too long as well. I know how long it takes is personal, but he mentioned fast, but not rushed. Not sure if I hit the mark on that lol. Your snail looks great!

At first I did the assignment with a pencil, but then I got a bit carried away and redid all the pencil marks with ink and added a bit of watercolor on top.
The hardest part was the twisting of the laces. They feel more like ribbons instead of laces with thickness. Following a similar line, very close to it, but slightly different was definitely tough.

These were a challenge
because there is some foreshortening going on in the picture. I wanted to go bigger and started bigger but I went wrong somewhere on my proportion. Luckily I went light and could erase. Curious to see how Stan simplifies these boots.
These are great! I'm excited to see how he simplifies it too. Not sure if I did it right.

Here's my line drawing submission, I think I might have added to much detail. I found it difficult to choose what to simplify when the subject is this detailed.
All critiques are welcome.
