added comment inProject - Simple Animal Portraits
Asked for help
Finally did it 🫠 this project took many rounds to get something "similar" to what was requested. And still, I have a feeling I haven't grasped something in a... correct way? Like I was trying to save "main" feature of an animal across deformations so it's still was recognizable as initial animal. And at the same time struggled with hippo, with birds, with fox etc. 🙈
Once finished with main animals, found a few more from the mentioned resources and tried to repeat the approach. This is tough subject for me to deal with. 🫠 The other animals took 3 rounds each to have current results. It's going to be a looooong journey. I'm not sure i could switch to next lessons right now... 🫠

Would anyone like to form a study group? I'm looking for a couple other people to encourage each other, trade tips and give suggestions. Message me if you're interested :)

sooo here we go; I’ve made 6 attempts for now, testing here and there, and personally my favourite is number 6 when I’ve changed the brash to tech pen so it was more pressure sensitive and gave nice curves. Also tried two more pictures for fun. Please feel free to drop any recommendations on how to improve it 🥸

Hello! So I’m back to the beginning of the course from the shapes part to figure out my mistakes with simplifying from observation. I was trying to get the idea of what exactly should be drawn or “how” it should be, that in the moment with the last (third) pear I’ve realised I went to a different direction -__- should it be something closer to the first pear in this project? (In terms of planes)
I believe the idea behind this exercise was simplification. Simplify shapes and shadow. By only using straight lines and four shades of grey + white, you are supposed to leave out a lot of unnecessary detail and focus on shape design. (also it was meant to be a simple shape so beginners could have a little success moment at the beginning of the course i guess)
So yeah, more like the first and second pear. The third one is blending everything already again. Stan explains it pretty well in his own demo of the pear though, so maybe take a look at that as well?

Hello everyone! Got a quick question: anyone has an idea on how to draw a sheep so it doesnt look like a dog? ( I’m straggling going through this assignment :(

Looking good!
We can look to the skulls to see the big differences between these two animals. Dogs and sheep are designed for different things.
Dogs are built to run, hunt and, bite.
Sheep graze in fields all day.
Understanding the subtle difference in their bone structure will help you out. Also, adding some wool might help too :P
Hope this is useful. Keep it up!

First attempt, on grey paper, hence the grittiness. Was a great tutorial and really enjoying the contributions from others.
