Here's a new attempt at this project.
It took me a while to realize that I was making the eyes completely flat. :D
Any critique is appreciated.

Came back to this exercise and got lost in it 😅 I liked the character so much I had to color it and I am even working on a small animation loop
Subject: wood turtle
Cool turtle really like the way you made him stand up and colored it.Did you use a tablet with a screen or without one

I revisited this challenge before moving on, and went for the skull by Jeff Watts this time. I felt that this turned out better than my last attempt, and I think it was a good idea to choose a simpler subject to study.
Looks great, I feel you did great at reproducing the wide variety of lines Jeff Watts uses!

I really like the expressive sketches of Glen Keane and the way he uses line weight to really draw the eyes to the wanted areas. So simple yet so efficient
Wayyy better job being flowy and gestural with the lines than when I tried to copy keane. So easy to make the style look stiff. Good job !

Day 261: Some really good tips in this one Mr.Proko. I think its really cool to see that im pulling off more confident lines but also even cooler that there is so much that I still need to practice. Overall I think I have a more clear idea about taper strokes and now I know where and how I can improve my line quality further. DRAWING IMPROVEMENT DRAW ON! DRAW ON! DRAW ON!

For tip #5: Rotating the paper, is rotating the paper a valid long term strategy? Or would it be better in the long run to practice the "awkward angles" so that they're as good as my normal angles?
Its my opinion but I feel that for drawing most medium will allow you to rotate the "paper"

First attempt, I have a hard time with clean lines and not pushing too hard on the paper

As someone who also has a naturally heavy hand in drawing, I definitely relate to the struggle 😅 It does take some conscious practice to have more control over pressure, but continuing with line warm-up exercises is definitely on the right path: https://www.proko.com/s/sNxz Especially try out page skating using change in pressure from heavy to light, and the light, medium, and dark lines exercise. But also, with the CSI assignment, having perfectly clean lines is not something to worry as much over. In fact, it can help more to start with a very light (rough) outline, and once you find the right line, you can go over it once more with a darker stroke to give it more clarity.

Had fun making pears, I feel like having a clear drawing goal really helps reduce my anxiety and put pencil to paper!
