Week 2 of sketches from life. These got much better once I started paying more attention to line weight. I also found it more enjoyable to draw softer organic forms, compared to some of the very angular references I chose for week 1.

Your bread and cheese looks so good! I love the thickness you added to the ketchup, it really makes it pop. The whole drawing overall is awesome to look at. Line weight definitely helped all of these; I think it would've been nice to see it a little more in the pears like you did with the cherries, but that's my only critique. I am going to start the two week challenge here soon. Do you have any tips for how you proceeded? For example, did you focus on simplifying the contour or just kind of went for it. I'm interested in hearing about your process. Thank you!

My friend and I are doing this course together. Here are our submissions for this project. Left images are mine [Both of my images got cut off :( ] Right images are his (His images also have Ty on them) You can refer to my friend as Bob in response
@rubbernut
My friend and I have started this course together. We come from two different art backgrounds. I have had a good amount of experience with art, but lack the physical and mental skills of the basics as I was never formally taught them. On the other hand, my friend has drawn here and there, but has never known where to start to really start learning. The left pear is mine and the right pear is my friend's. To not have to refer to his pear as "your friend's pear" you can call him Bob. We are both just looking for critique. Do not mind the mushroom that was transferred over onto my pear, that's not part of the drawing.

Based on the demo I can tell that Bob should work on values. Right now the picture looks rather flat because of that. On the other hand the picture on left is awesome imho, but I am new with art.
@rubbernut
The left image is my second attempt with the demo and the middle image is my first attempt without the demo. I'm really here as a beginner, knowledge wise. I never was officially taught these concepts, but picked them up as I grew. I am currently working part-time, a full-time student, and have other obligations, but I still get down on myself and feel I'm so behind. When I started, there were only two videos in the line section, but now there are plenty and I feel like I'm getting very behind. Are there any tips or motivation anybody can give on this? I feel like this fact chokes me up and stops me from producing more art as I feel pressured.

Hi @rubbernut. Just wanted to let you know I am also way behind, and I only did the pear today! I don’t know if this helps, but I have given myself until mid-June, early-July to catch up. And if there are 2 of us talking about it, you can be sure there are more who suffer silently from this self-judgment. Keep going, one drawing/project at a time!

Hi! So I was working on the bean and I came across this image. I am asking for help because it is quite a dynamic pose and I am not exactly sure if I got the twist, lean, and foreshorten right. If anyone could provide some insight on this, I would love to listen. (Do not mind the bad quality)

That's mine. I focused on the side of her hips and the torso twist.

The model chest is fronting up and your bean is fronting left. Her torso is twisted in relation to her pelvis, so I would twist the bean too.

Good morning , I'm redoing the bean lesson and this is what I think it might look like, but again I'm also relearning. Maybe someone can share their opinion on how it should be?
@rubbernut
I have tried gesture before, but it’s been a while because last time I got frustrated with it. I am trying to have much more patience with it now and taking it at my own pace. If anyone could give some constructive criticism on my works and even pointers, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
