Ahh... I will get better...

This makes me very happy to see you reapply your focus and pay attention to the specifics of what was in front of you. great job!
@mahatsu
Thank you for introducing Ketchup and Mustard method. Simpler method for complicated matters.
Morgan Weistling
great job!

I did a small study using your painting as a reference. When I first put down average-shadow-gray, it looked too dark, so I mixed more white to lighten up. Then when I started to put down light family colors, the light colors looked very dark. I should not have changed the average shadow value.

I did Cloudy Day first as it was cloudy when I painted (although I was indoor.) Then I tried to differentiate Sunny Day from it. Not sure if it worked.
Morgan Weistling
it's easy to see if you did it right by looking at the point where the shadow and light meet.Your cloudy has the same amount of contrast as the sunny one. You could go a value darker or more on the cloudy one and let the average and highlight follow it down.

Here are my mirror drawings. I used a ruler to draw guidelines and a tool (that I don’t know the name of) to measure from the center or edge lines. I learned that for the area very complicated and where I struggled, if I try to see it as an abstract shape, it helped me to define a form a little better. I will need more experience to have that point of view in practice.
Morgan Weistling
That's great! You now know the goal :train your yourself to see abstractly when drawing.

Here is my drawing. Any corrections needed? I enjoyed drawing it. Painting is a tricky part for me, so I am looking forward to learning in this class. Thanks for sharing the tips for grid lines using a piece of paper. It expedites the process. Thank you.
Morgan Weistling
everything is in the right place. that's a great beginning. Now, continue the thinking the mindset that the grid taught you as you move on with paint. Paint should not change the way you think when it comes to putting things where they belong. Keep drawing and measuring each stroke. Be specific.
