Copy of a Sargent drawing, trying to be aware of line quality: dark, light, thick, thin

I think this sketch was fairly successful. I think with more sketches, your method can yield great results. Nice job.

This exercise if 4+difficult for me. Will do more
Martha Muniz
Try simplifying them into basic shapes first, like a circle for the head, a pear shape (or two circles stuck together) for the body, and ovals for the legs. Once you get the hang of their simplified version after a couple of attempts, it will make it easier to just work with those shapes to move them around into different poses from your imagination.

I'm starting the class over from square one. I guess it's too late to get feedback, but if there is some help available, I would appreciate it.

Starting over with course. Really hard to follow directions, it seems. Almost no straight lines, but I did manage to keep it to only 6 values. Likeness is totally NOT. This was done with an intuos pro tablet. I think it's harder to draw using a slippery surface like that. (excuses, excuses...)

OMG, my drawing is so bad despite doing it many times. Not sure how to get the image in here.

P.S. This was done in Procreate. I'm playing around with digital art, although oil paint is my real thing.

How do you feel about using photoshop along with your photo reference to give instant and accurate values using the eye dropper and the LAB scale? I do this and have stopped making a value study because I get more accurate information from photoshop.
