That looks great. Perhaps the core shadow could be a bit darker, the light halftones a bit brighter.

Apart from this demonstration image, do you have suggestions for what kinds of drawings we can use to test out these methods? I am a beginner and I worry that I'll get overwhelmed if I try something too complex.
